Lee & JP finally lose the confidence of the Board??

Those thinking we may get a whole new board out of this review are delusional. WT is a Pty Ltd private company with HBG holding a majority in director positions.

The best we can see is maybe 1 or 2 changes in the HBG directors on the board & sourcing 2 new independent directors who have the experience, leadership & governance capability to complement the other directors (with one as chairman who commands respect).

Hopefully any of the regular board 'leakers to media' are replaced and a Director's Code Of Conduct is brought in.

Hopefully we get a winning team.

But not sure how this helps.

Would've been good to get a Ben Iken type to look at football operations.

I'm surprised a code of ethics is not already in place and that any interface with the media is facilitated by the WTs' media unit. It is so effective and those who chose not to abide by it know the consequences.

Agreed.
The board deserves the embarrassment and heartache it is currently going through - especially Lee and Pascoe, due to the way it treated many people of the past few years, culminating in sacking Tim again.
Bone headed, amateur dickheads.

It's just not those two tho, a lot of the wests ashfield board members would be the main perpetrators, other board members too.. it's the faceless men and women we should probably be more worried about.

Here is an article from the DT:-

It’s long been Wayne Bennett’s favourite catchphrase. Given Bennett’s standing as one of rugby league’s greatest-ever coaches, it makes complete sense then, that key members of the worst performing NRL club over the past-12 years have turned to finding a way forward by taking advice from podcasters and supporters from the hill.

If it’s even possible, the Wests Tigers as an organisation have reached an all-time low, thanks to a collection of suits that make up the club’s majority owners, the Holman Barnes Group, (formerly known as Wests Ashfield) who are hiding behind a petition signed by no less than 2,000 fans. The petition has triggered an independent review which is currently underway and is designed to lift the bonnet on the club’s governance and operations. It is yet to be confirmed if the findings will ever be made public, which is important, as it would then allow the rest of the game to find out how it is that a podcaster knows what an elite-level performing NRL club looks like.

It’s worth noting also, politicians, journalists, player agents and staff will also be interviewed. The review has been brought upon to create change at the Wests Tigers, namely by removing the two constants at the club, chairman Lee Hagipantelis and CEO Justin Pascoe. Boardroom politics often prompts the eyes of punters to glaze over and in desperate need for a Bex and a good lie down.

However, this one will have a lasting impact on the footy field. The Tigers, not the Dragons, should be wooden-spoon favourites for 2024 after this. Those who have penned their signatures have little clue as to how much damage they’re doing ahead of Benji Marshall’s rookie season.

The youngest coach in the NRL next year is said to be filthy. He knows what success looks like and this surely isn’t it. To pinch a quote from yet another super coach, this time Jack Gibson, “winning starts in the front office.” What should be the most important pre-season of Marshall’s career, which is underpinned by solidarity and unity, is now being railroaded by a boardroom Civil War. The damage, both for Marshall and his ability to coach without a summer of distracting headlines, in addition to the club’s hopes of recruiting new talent while retaining their own, is untold. This morning, Tigers fans will wake to the news that Junior Blues halfback Alex Conti is off to the Bulldogs. It’s just the beginning. It’s any wonder Marshall’s manager Matt Desira was one of the first to call Hagipantelis out of concern last Thursday. Next on the phone from the US was Mario Tartak.

He is the agent of Tigers 2024 starting halfback, former Dragons playmaker Jayden Sullivan, and the club’s most prized recruits, Latu and Samuela Fainu. The trio had taken deals with the Tigers in the belief that under Marshall and a heavily-invested Hagipantelis, the club had moved past troubled times. Prop Stefano Utoikamanu has a clause in his 2024 contract that allows him to leave if the Wests Tigers miss the finals next season. What’s the point? Let him go now. The determinations of the review are unlikely to be detailed before December, right when Marshall is in the middle of his important pre-season. In the meantime, Hagipantelis is standing firm after it was voted unanimously that he continue as a director and chair for a further three years by both the Balmain and Wests Magpies directors of the joint-venture club last month. The twist came when he was recently asked to stand down by Holman Barnes Group representative Tony Andreacchio. Andreacchio and the HBG feel betrayed that news of Hagipantelis’ extension as chair went public while the review was still ongoing. Did they seriously think it would remain quiet for three months?

Pascoe will be interviewed for the sake of the review next week. It will be the CEO’s word against a podcaster. Only in Tiger Town.
Am I in a time warp? That article is over a week old now…

I’ve said over and over any Wests Ashfield member on the Wests Tigers board should fall on their sword. They should concentrate on their clubs and let Rugby League people populate the board.
The Balmain and Western Suburbs members currently on the board are on thin ice.
Fact is, these board members have done a despicable job for many years now. They have all been useless.

Trouble is why was he selected for interview?

And his already talking to the media.

"He is"

Much like our chairman does week in week out...but thats OK?

Elias DOES need to stfu but thats something we are
always saying here too

Not too long ago there wouldn't have been many people even thinking the petition wod be accepted and viewed
I myself was skeptical although I admired those trying to float this idea and always stayed positive about it.... And is like to thank Garry Steve & Joel and anyone else involved for getting this where we are now.
I'd say an entirely new board would be impossible anyway.
We need to do something everything we've tried has failed before... Doing nothing gets us nowhere
Let's hope for a good Christmas

Thanks for the support mate.

Thanks to everyone else for the support as well.

I don't think this really is an us against them situation with this topic. Everyone wants what is best for the club, people just see different paths to get there.

Did the reviewers mention whether they expect this complete before the end of the year?

The review is coming up to close to 4 weeks now, I wouldn't expect it to take too much longer and then the report will be passed onto the Holman Barnes Group. I am sure they will take time to digest it as well and then decide what they want to do, but I would be hoping we hear something in early December.

So the DT think it’s unreasonable that the fan base demand answers after two consecutive spoons and countless final free years, not to mention stuff up after stuff up.

They badly need click bait, and Where do you get it….write something negative about the Weststigers, it’s a winner every time.
What a hypocrite, there is Riccio and his mates on NRL 360 saying what a shit managed club it is and that you really have to feel sorry for the long suffering members and fans, it all starts at the front office, blah, blah, blah, blah.

But when the members and fans demand some change or at least answers to what is going on at the club and miraculously actually get someone to listen to them and force a revue into where the problems may be at the club, all of a sudden these fans who incidentally have been supporters of the club since it's inception and as dedicated fans happen to also run a podcast, all of a sudden they are wreckers and how dare they challenge the way the club is run.

What a joke, how dare they have a revue and how would you take the word of a scum bag podcaster over that of a chairman who can't keep his mouth shut because he loves the sound of the drivel that comes out of.

I have a feeling that either the Chairman or one of the incompetent board members is the big leak at the club and the biggest concerns that Riccio would have is that the leaks may stop, meaning that he would actually have to work to get material for the crap that he passes off as journalism or that the slap up dinners and piss ups may come to an end.

This is my final say on this. (cue the cheering)
What upsets me about this whole process is the way it's been played out and the waste of a chance for real reform it represents.
We only had one chance to do this properly. We can't have another crack next year and the year after.

The petition was presented and before you could blink two guys were appointed, one of whom was later revealed to already have a strong connection to the club. (still yet to be explained why this wasn't immediately revealed to the public).

This was our chance for lasting change and we've blown it by not having a considered response and appointing a Shane Richardson type with extensive winning club land experience and no connection at all to Wests. The reviewers needed to come in with a clean slate and working experience with winning clubs. The guys appointed have impressive resumes, none of which involves running a football club successfully.

Instead what we have is board members brawling in public.

The chance for meaningful reform is lost.
What if we wanted Shane Richardson to apply for a CEO position? Surely that would be questionable if he was the one conducting the review.
