The article concerning Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon's remarks on Hezbollah and Netanyahu were no doubt made to cause maximum embarrassment. Also the article as to whether Hezbollah will join the war is concerning. Only time will tell whether Gaza is nothing more than a stalking horse. I hope this is not the case as there is potential for this to escalate.
Unlikely to escalate.

The U.S had the opportunity to implicate an Iranian complicity whether real or not but declined.......war with Iran is out of the question as are further sanctions on their hydrocarbons without fueling inflation.

This situation is horrendous.

Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon's comments about the situation might not be factual or better stated his theory might not be correct but I think his general idea is probably (it's just my opinion) correct.

I think Iran has probably helped Hamas take the horrific actions they took.

I'm not sure that Israel were really caught out though. Surely they had information something was brewing. I'd be more inclined to think it was incompetent risk management on the Israeli part rather than a lack of knowledge or a willingness to allow the attack to happen.

While we are discussing this though the people in Gaza are being bombed and killed. It's so bad.

  • Israel began the long and sorrowful process of burying the victims of the weekend’s attacks by Hamas. The most recent death toll in Israel stands at 1,200. Israel’s military spokesperson said the government has been able to confirm the identities of 97 people taken hostage into Gaza during the attack by Hamas. More than 100 are believed to have been taken.
  • More than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli strikes since Saturday, Gaza’s health ministry said on Thursday. Among them are 500 children and 276 women, it said. A further 6,612 were wounded in Israeli airstrikes on the Palestinian enclave, the ministry said.
  • More than 338,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in the Gaza Strip, the UN said on Thursday, as heavy Israeli bombardments continue to hit the Palestinian enclave.
  • The Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, said Gazans must “stay steadfast and remain on their land” amid growing calls for Cairo to allow safe passage to civilians fleeing Gaza. The only viable exit for Gazans to flee is through the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, but Egypt has rejected any move to set up safe corridors for refugees fleeing Gaza.

The whole of life is based on life eating or exploiting other life. Agonies have been endured by intelligent animals for many millions of years.

Atrocities have always happened to humans too. Consider what happened in the past.

There have been countless unreported atrocities around the world before the heavily-reported Hamas attack.

There will probably always be atrocities - and most won't be reported by the media.

I see the situation as SNAFU.

Well I feel I should apologize. You are right about the YouTube date. The essence however maybe is not out of date. Hear you loud n clear Misty Muzzle

There is nothing wrong with that video. If anyone is trying to paint this as a one sided issue it's ridiculous. Complaining about the date of the video is silly. This has been an ongoing issue for years that has not gotten any better.

We should criticize the behavior on principle and not be too swayed by emotion. You can't say bad Hamas for killing children and then state it's okay for the Israeli's to kill children.

No one is saying that its OK for Israelis to kill children, but justifying (in your words "plenty of justification") the slaughter and rape, beheadings and shooting of children in their beds that happened on the weekend, on something that happened 75years ago is disgusting and anyone including russell Brand or our very own Earl who justifies what happened on the weekend on something that happened 75 years ago is disgusting.

I find the actions from both sides of this conflict to be equally disgusting.

What has really baffled me though has been the apparent need for people and companies to take a side on the issue.

I won't name the company, but today I saw a US multinational sending out a "we stand with Israel" post on Instagram.

Like, seriously? Is this the day and age we live in?

IMO, the extent of the barbaric depravity of what was done last weekend extends beyond the realms of anything that precedes it and extends this incidentabove and beyond the general "Israel/Palestine Conflict" and IMO this is why people are "standing with" Israel. It is possible (like in my case) to have a measured opinion and acknowledge the "both sides" nature of the overall conflict but to also stand up and say that what happened last weekend is beyond the pale.

What has baffled me is the number of people showing support for Hamas since last weekend. To me THAT is truly baffling.

Genuine question, what evidence is there that (beyond a few fringe lunatics) people are supporting Hamas?

I've seen support pro Palestine support but my understanding is that pro Hamas support in Australia is a crime.

Apologies, stupid autocorrect, I meant to say Middle Earth not Middle East.

In my opinion Tolkien is still unsurpassed. The LOTR movies were epic, but really the book is so much better. Honestly, everyone should read the book at some point in their life.

Was less of a fan of The Hobbit though.

Soon so will be freedom of speech.

Is that the same for Harry Potter?
