Something to consider, Israel is currently making life in Gaza hell for the Palestinian residents. In no small part that hell is exacerbated by Israel shutting off water, gas and electricity but Israel have said that they will switch on the water gas and electricity if Hamas return the hostages. Hamas could restore water and electricity to its people immediately, but they wont. Hamas WANTS this hell for its own people. This was the whole point of the attack to provoke this to turn the world against Israel.

Personally, I think that billionaires and corporations, increasingly aided by AI, will be fine. The rests of us will struggle, though.

Imagine being a great ape just as humans were staring to take over. There were millions of other great apes, now there are thousands of them. Homo sapiens took all the best land and resources and left the other apes to fight it out over whatever was left.

AI are the 2 scariest letters for our future. Jobs out the door, mass increase in social security, unaffordable housing for people with no job/money. not a very bright future.

I think the original Planet of the apes series during late 70s that some of us kids collected cards for and watched played on this theme.

Thinking that with a multipolar world which is increasingly coming into being, it gives a measure of protection against AI and the like for the average guy.

AI controlled by one hegemon would be a scary concept. At least with competing superpowers they all must to a degree battle for influence giving us a measure of value.

I agree with Musk that we need alternative civilisations in order to have a mirror on our own.

Hard to know if we are doing well if there is no alternative.

This is one of the oldest conflicts in modern history. Many here will know and have strong arguments for Israel's case and for Palestein's case. Those with connections will know a lot more then I. This is a conflict you could spend a life studying

There are longer feuds and in the past there has been all sorts of double operations. Mossad make the CIA look Amatuerish. Be a little Skepical of everything. Skeptical = "hearing things on face value and being open to them occuring while not closing the possibility of false or incorrect information". I will draw attention to this article. Netanyahu for ages would not deal with the PLA (Palestein Liberation Army). Yet what the article asserts is that Netanyahu allowed Hamas to send workers, to recieve a lot of aid and to flourish. The reason, to divide Palesteins between the PLA and Hamas so it remains weak.

Sadly Palestein civilians, caught in the crossfire have died horribly.
Sadly Jewish people I know will get harrassed again as will a bunch of Arabs ...

My view; Ireland found peace. Yes it's still tence, but it's far more peaceful in Northern Ireland.
We need to move Israel and Palestein to that point and push nations to fund/provide ain in peace not war. How? now that's a tough question.

The issue for people saying that Israel should show restraint, is they do not understand militant and radical Islamic doctrine. As @Winston Churchill pointed out. The loss of Palestinian lives in the pursuit of eradicating Jews off the planet is justified. They do not care about their people, only their ideology.

I think you should do some research - not everyone is brought up with a Western, secular mentality. Not sure if you heard the chants in Sydney? "Gas the Jews" - now where have I heard that before?

This is not a swipe at Muslims, just these radical groups.

I've got no skin in this game - just stating exactly what Hamas themselves state.

Interestingly, Egypt has disclosed that it had warned Israel about an impending large-scale attack by Hamas but the latter failed to act on it. To be sure, there is going to be stocktaking within Israel at some point. Prime Minister Netanyahu will be hard-pressed to explain. On the other hand, typically, he will try to cover up and whip up xenophobia with war cries to distract attention.

Did Netanyahu push Hamas ahead of the PLA? Some people want peace in this conflict and some want war. Yes Hamas, from all I have seen wants war (although being open that a sub faction may have launched this strike. I believe it was orchistrated by the Hamas leadership).

People are stoking this conflict. Pushing it hard. Many Jews want peace and many Palestines want peace as well. Lets call out Hamas and recognise that separation of them from Palestines in general.

Just can't believe Sussan Ley, head of the "Parliamentry friends of Palestine" criticising Penny Wong for asking for restraint. Ley called for a stack more in the recent past. All I am saying if you are criticising those who say "show restraint" make sure you haven't said far worse before (as Sussan has)

The Palestinian people are not responsible for the disgusting behaviour of Hamas. The murder of Palestinian lives in Gaza is appalling and unacceptable. The murder of Israeli lives at the Supernova Festival and the various Kibbutz's is likewise appalling and unacceptable.

The look on the young Canadian women, Shir Georgy, as she waits with other Festival goers to be murdered fills me with horror. This is the last known photo of her alive. One party goer is on an IV and the lady next to Georgy has a leg would. I can only imagine the terror she feels.

The first step towards a lasting peace is eliminating Hamas from the face of the planet. It was done with ISIS and can be done again. The only hope Palestinians have of peace and prosperity is getting rid of Hamas. Hamas does not want peace, it wants jihad and will not cease until Israel is pushed into the sea. They are not hiding the ball.
