2023 Pacific Championships

Aussies were a tad clunky, as you would expect with 8 changes since our last game. That said, the premier players in the team all stood up and secured the win. Haas, Teddy, Munster, DCE, Murray were all great. The new boys all played well.
One thing I noticed live, which I have noticed for 2 years now is that Harry Grant is an average no.9. He kills the momentum too much. He throws passes that make the receiver check their run or even catch it when the opposition is on top of them. There’s a reason he has played from the bench so much for his club, state and country. Ben Hunt had the side rolling.
Special shout-out to Kotoni Staggs. He was a beast out there and when he ran the ball, the opposition defenders took at least one tackle to get back in line. Hard bugger. Didn’t have the impact that Haas had, but had them worried all game.
Second shout-out to Fa’alogo from Melbourne. That kid is fast…with his feet and between his ears.
Big night in town, the beers flowed like crazy. Lots of footy players getting fair on it.

Watched Aus vs Samoa game to see how Matamua and Uto stacked up. Hate to say that Matamua looked fairly below par and Uto was probably the least effective prop in the game. Same story with him - just lacking the energy, fierceness, leg drive, the desire to break down the walls when he runs (or defends). Game time is low as is his involvement while he’s on the field.
Matamua looks average in every department and every aspect of the game. Not sure what he has to make him a regular first grade player.
Two of our best future prospects - doesn’t say much for Tigers future chances against teams boasting quality rep players.

It seems the singing (or non signging) of the anthem has once again raised its ugly head.
Whilst the Samoan side containing many Australian born and bred players once again showed great passion, belting out their anthem with hand on heart and tears in eyes, four Kangaroos refused to even open their mouths during ours.
Payne Haas born and raised in Australia - Newcastle then Gold Coast
Kotoni Staggs born and raised in Australia - Wellington
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow born and raised in Australia - Cairns
Selwyn Cobbo born and raised in Australia - Cherbourg

It is disrespectful and Mal should pull these pricks into line like he said he would last time this happened.

I'm sure if they only got their $30k match fee if they sung it, they would.

Dunno, all indigenous boys and it was minutes after Australia told them they don't have a Voice

Madge stuffing up his interchange before the game even started. They're down a change before kickoff coz he's started Foran instead of Nu Brown. How Madge is being considered for NSW is beyond me
