Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Ive already said here several times so far this offseason… this team has won 4 games last year and so far they are binging back the same side less Brooks for 2 rookies basically,,,

They seem unable to move on their underachievers… although other teams (Bulldogs ) can do it with ease…

They have signed no one new in months …and prospects don’t look great at this exact moment of new prospects …

Their outside backs are the worst and slowest in the competition

I still expect a couple of changes but they are unlikely difference makers …

If anyone expects more than 7-8 wins and a finish above 15th .., they are dreaming,,,that is the ceiling and probably beyond them but I live in hope…

Benji will get two years …the expectations couldn’t be lower for 2024…
We agree on a lot. Bud Sullivan looks out of nick. Aiden Sezer is old. the knives will be out for Benji by rd 8.

I think the “knives out“ part is where we differ this time …

I said a few days back he cant turn water into wine…

He is a club legend ( maybe the only one we have) and will get given a bit of time…

Anyway time to move on 👍

This club doesn't have the balls to hang tough at 1-7 or 0-8. 2023 is living proof. I'm done now.

100% add to this they actually resigned our underperformers who have been apart of the journey as well to fill the roster preventing us getting anyone else in.

Banking on kids is great it is very very rare it pays off.

Worthwhile question. I for one don’t rate Suallii. I don’t get the hype. Same thing. He dominates at school and goes ok but he’s not the freak he’s made out to be

It’s not. We all know the answer he played SG Ball this year. He hasn’t played against NRL players yet. If he makes it at best it will be in 24.

Ahhh.. do the Fulton rumours have any truth to them? Why are they back?

That will legit blow my mind. Player managers clearly hate us as it is, getting rid of Fulton this early - after he had just helped sign some decent young talent - will only further piss them off.

Understandable - I reckon his management care more about what’s gonna get him regular FG appearances though. Who’s to say in 4-5 years time if he makes the transition and becomes one of the leagues best 13’s that he can’t make 800k-1 mil a season.

The way the game is developing and treading 13’s are about to be super super valuable - especially ball playing ones. They’re pretty much a 3rd halve and especially with how Benji wants to play with a focus on attack and throwing the ball around he’d be positioned pretty well.

He’ll have halves next to him with plenty of flair, if he can provide some extra space at first receiver for Latu and Sullivan they’ll thrive as they both have excellent running games and footwork with eyes up footy.

He’ll also have second rowers with plenty of attention on them - people forget how good Ice’s hole running is and Bateman can also hit good lines but both couldn’t showcase that with Wakeham/Brooks.

Combine all that with one of the best 9’s in the game in Api giving early service and probably some extra space with his craftiness out of the ruck and then a fullback in Bula who primes his game on effort plays and support running around the ruck too.

I think if he was to make the transition he’d be in a good spot to showcase his skills/ball playing abilities.

so now we gunna blame the players we don’t get?

here is a novel concept … if you think you don’t have adequate depth in the halves .., don’t move one on ..wait until the replacement is signed first …
Can the kid still make 30 to 40 tackles every week as well .....that is the question that he will need to answer

I’ll try change the subject cause seems like this thread is turning into a general info thread.

Does anyone see Lachlan Galvin as a potential 13 in the future as a ball playing lock?

If both Fainu and Sullivan perform or even if we nab Luai he may struggle locking down a spot. He’s listed at 195cms at the age of 18. Probably still growing. That could add a different dimension to our attack with his playmaking abilities in the middle.

I haven’t watched him that closely, so anyone that might’ve what are your thoughts?
I've seen a fair bit of him. I think he will end up like Curtis Sironen and be too big to continue at 6. I can see him succeeding as an edge BackRower. Very talented kid.

If the Australian Rugby League Commission give the green light to grant salary cap exemptions to clubs who recruit players from rival codes, will this enable us to finally land Curtis Rona?
Haha remember that? All because he liked a couple of the clubs on social media. Turned into him being linked to us for at the next 3 years.
