Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yea, ah. We did not sign Staines for 250k.
Seriously Staines would call up Ivan Cleary and go back to Penrith on Minimum contract.

Not saying I rate Staines, I am saying that I am fairly sure Staines could find a 400k contract on the market.

We have a good backline problem for Benji. The only spot that is sorted is Bula:
Staines
Tupou
Nofo
Naden
Toa

Plus we may be signing Olam. We have already signed Reilly and Feledy so its pretty crowded.
Other then Olam, none of the players above can really play second row and cover center from the Bench. Also you look at them and realise how inexperienced the entire backline is.
They seem to think AJ Kepoa can play backrow, centre and wing.

I think he needs to go.
England might be the place for him.

Not sure how. Lets evaluate what ive said.
"There is no evidence of any other club wanting him".
Do a google search and find him being linked to another club. The closest i found was one article saying Staines needs a club and Dogs need a fullback. Nothing from either party to suggest there was actually interest. When you do your search you will find the reports I alluded in my next point Regarding the price tag putting clubs off and his manager approaching the Tigers. Now admittedly I don't know if that is true, but it was certainly reported.

I'm not relying on anything Peter's is saying. I specifically said that "there was no mention of a price tag but if it is overs...". As in I haven't tried to confirm it as true that he has signed or the estimated contracted value.
But the Golden Greek Peters reckons that getting a half back for $200k, even if it was only as a back up to play reserve grade and to mentor the young guys was according to him overs, then if we have actually signed Charlie Staines on his idea of what is overs, then we may very well have got a bargain especially if at a pinch he can do a passable job as a back up full back if required.

Like I said, if this is true, I am more interested in what we have done to free up a spot.

I want our whole squad on his idea of overs.

Sorry guys Olam is cooked. I can identify the exact moment Olams magic stopped. It was a game against Manly . He was taking the ball up in his usual flat out manner & he got BUSTED BIG TIME by Olkau'atu. I have never seen Olam busted like that before. You could seriously see his courage disappear & it never returned & i believe it never will. Bellemy saw the same .Check that game out & every game he played after that. You will
see what I mean.

I'm really concerned about a long OLAM contract.

Bellamy is a shroud operator that demands high standards.

I think we may find some of our younger talent displacing two of those names. If I was a younger junior rep back I'd fancy my chances in unseating at least two names and possibly three. To me some of our "established" players are very inconsistent and if that is the case, having highly talented young players (who may be inconsistent due to age/experience) is preferable than sticking with inconsistent "established" backs.

I’d payout Noffa. Yes - he is that bad

Ice talking about next year, might explain our poor form this year.
Isaiah Papali’i: “Having Benji at the helm is going to be good, where we are getting a constant message or a constant game plan that is going to be simple for the whole 27 rounds.”
Isaiah Papali’i: “We had a patch there [earlier in 2023] where we were playing pretty well and we got our first win of the season, but a lot of that was, to be honest, on the back of Benji’s game plan and how simple he made it for us”

No confusion with Tim's old ass out the way
