Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Re Klemmer , Adrian Proszenko on Sen just said the tigers aren’t shopping him but another club has approached them asking if they’d release him .

It’s clearly the bulldogs whose current starting props are Max King & Liam Knight .

The Tigers at this stage have said they aren’t interested in letting Klem go & it’s not a requirement to fit Luai in
This seems closer to reality, but it's way cooler to make WT the fools in this story.

No idea what is actually true though.

Wests Tigers are poised to make a four-year, $4.5 million offer to Jarome Luai in a bid to snare the most prized signature on the open market.
The Tigers have had ongoing talks with Luai and his manager and are planning to lodge a formal offer. Sources with knowledge of the situation, not authorised to speak publicly about the matter, said a contract could potentially be put before Luai’s management before close of business on Thursday.

From SMH:

The Luai interest comes at a time when there is intrigue over David Klemmer’s future at the joint-venture outfit. Klemmer is contracted until the end of 2025, with a mutual option for the following season.

However, the Tigers won’t stand in his way if another club is prepared to offer a long-term deal.

What a surprise, the usual suspects on here just picked up the telegraph story and ripped the club a new one, like I said about 6 pages back, do you really want to believe a telegraph story kicking this club

Thank God some sense.

Two time wooden spooners and the papers laugh at us too much, it’s all fake news 😂

Zero Tackle lists a portion of a club's playing roster contracts from media sources and for Souths the following were listed:

Cook is on $750, Graham $850, Latrell $1 million, Wighton $750, Murray, $950 and Tatola $650.
Sure. But there are plenty of others that counter that. For example, there is a clip from 360 where they were discussing Wighton's contract. They were saying 850k a year but backened and on 700k next year.

There is a fox article discussing spine values from this year. They had Latrell on 950k and Walker 750k, (i am aware they will both be on more next year given as they have both signed extensions which start next year).
Same article had Cook on 700k. There is no values attached to his extension but lots of articles of Cook taking less when he extended to ensure he finishes his career at Souths (and also why would you pay him more as he is slowing down).
I could keep going but no point. Especially as we don't know how accurate any reported value is.

But as I also said they also don't appear to have any bad contracts inhibiting their ability to pay these guys.
Additionally, they probably have the lowest priced halfback in the competition.

Imagine our club being portrayed in a poor light by rumour! Who would have thought. Some of us need to have more faith in our club. I am pretty happy Betsy is in charge of Football Operations as communication seems to be one of his strengths. Thanks for the information.

Most people’s faith is earned.

A longer term deal - Klemmer will be 32 at the end of the Tigers deal who is offering a longer deal

And that is a fair position as it provides certainty for the player.

If we land olam and luai, it would be a terrible time to offload Klemmer. We might finally have a finals chance and we lose our best prop.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I can't believe we are that stupid unless we have a replacement pending. There's no way cash is an issue, we were going hard for Moses with a reported 1.4m figure, which included brooks in the plans. We must have a sizable chunk still there.
