Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Is this mail or just gut feeling?
Gut feeling - both clubs seem confident and no decision has been made so I can’t tell you where’s he’s going.

All I know is that Penrith are most likely going to offer a 3rd year and they believe that should entice him to remain at the club. However, even if he did sign with us in 2025 do NOT expect an early release. He’ll 100% be a panther throughout 2024.

Two of his best mates at the club Spencer Lenui and Critta all leaving for a new challenge and more money this year would be eye opening to Luai imo.

Let alone the money being significantly larger and the challenge being way more legacy defying - that’s why my take away is he’ll sign with us.

However he’s making a decision between a club who has won 3 premiership’s in a row to a club who hasn’t made the top 8 in 12 years so it’ll be interesting. Once again time will tell but I’m pretty optimistic about it.

Yes mate, I saw a few things that people really shouldn't see, I was involved with a riot that resulted in the inmates setting fire to the wing, a stabbing and quite a few other unsavoury things

Tough job man. Knew a few screws, big
poly guys, some of the stories are like a
movie. Mining is a good industry, good stuff!

Haha yeah it’s crazy how people think these guys become completely unemployable after footy ends.
Turn 35…life over. You must survive on whatever you have made so far…lol
It’s just ridiculous.
Some are completely clueless though. That’s why a lot have turned to selling drugs after their playing days. Not trying to paint all of them with the same brush, but some have absolutely nothing going for them outside of footy.

Luai already has 3 premiership rings and has a decent chance in '24 for a 4th assuming he sees out his present contract. That said, he has nothing left to prove where he is and with a bigger payday available elsewhere I also think he will leave Penrith. Where he goes, who knows, but we seems to have a pretty good offer on the table so hopefully it will be us.

before I cop it, yes I said something about Haumole. I was told by someone close to WT that he was intrigued by the prospect of joining us given his relationships with the Fainu boys and Scott Fulton and that would we would offer a competitive contract for him to join for 2026.

competitive implies market rate with a reasonable amount of years, not $1 million a year for 8 years until he is 34. credit to Haumole and Tartak for getting Manly to go that high. that is an insane deal that may well end up being salary cap suicide with Schuster, DCE and the Trbojevic’s all there on good money.
