David Nofoaluma #164

the biggest issue is that we’ll now struggle to punt him to a rival club because his attitude is now out in the open. from a WT perspective it’s nothing we didn’t know previous.

credit to Benj for pushing the boys to train at a higher standard.
So you've been to training?

What cannot be denied is any player will likely become disappointed when they are being shopped to other clubs, particularly when the club that don’t want them has just collected 2 straight wooden spoons.
Is it not our Football Manager which is now Matthew Betsey who should be the main communicator between our coaching staff and the players, particularly the disillusioned ones who are looking for answers.
There is no easy answers other than we paid way too much and signed Nofa for way too long.
He’s now a small ageing, battle scarred winger who looks to have lost a lot of the speed he once had and now has very little to offer a struggling NRL club.
Put it down to a bad investment and hope he agrees to head to the UK Super League where he can potentially extend his professional rugby league career.

Is he really small?

His profile says he’s 182cm tall and weighs 94kgs.
When seeing him up close I doubt he’s 182cm tall, he gets dwarfed by most other players and 94kgs is on the small side for a modern day winger, particularly one that’s not very fast.
If he's 94kg then he's put on a lot of weight. Possibly a result of his training avoidance scheme? Anyhow the RLPA have told him to get back to training on Monday.

A few points:
1. I feel going to the RLPA and making a big deal of it is counter productive to what Noffa would want. This might be something he feels strongly about?
2. Seems it's reported that he was "treated unfairly" so he may feel he was being made to work harder than others or psychologically/ mentally pushed harder. True or not, who knows?
3. The part about time trials leaking out is still not great for the club.

No matter what, it seems like Noffa will be leaving us soon anyway. This will all get brushed under the rug as pre-season will start to kick off properly.
