Jarome Luai

I've gone back and forth on Luai since we got linked to him, but I'm now very much in the FOR Signing him camp.
I don't think he "blocks" any of our young halves because we shouldn't be relying on 18yos anyway. It just gives us more time to puck the right one. He breaks a bit of a recruitment drought and could trigger a change of fortunes for our recruitment ability. The guy is a winner, same mould as Munster, you hate him when he's playing against you but when he's in your team, he'll do anything and everything needed to win.
I hope he comes, I think it will be a watershed moment
Good post AT I'm feeling the same.
Hope we get him but won't be surprised if we miss out... The chat on the pros and cons of his recruitment is amusing though.
One idea was not playing finals for more coin would be appealing to him... You don't get to the top of the game with that sort of attitude.. But people are looking everywhere to bolster "their" argument.
I think personally he'd thrive under Benji

“Jarome said he would make a decision prior to coming back to (off-season) training. He’s got all the information from us and he’s got his management team.” - Brian Fletcher

At least this means all these transfer rumours ends tomorrow. Or at least is revealed next Monday. Big day
according to Blade23 on the Penrith LU forum the Panthers will have one last meeting with Luai tomorrow. we may be put out of our misery by then.

I find it odd that Brian Fletcher their chairman and Matt Cameron their CEO aren’t singing from the same hymn sheet.
The only thing I can take from that is the CEO might sign the contracts but doesn’t provide the salaries.
To me the board seem firm on their offer, maybe will add one more year tomorrow, maybe increase his 24 season salary. But it certainly does feel as though he has either agreed to a deal with us and Penrith are now in the position to counter or is willing to make a final decision soon after renegotiating with Penrith.

So very quite on Laui front..
He is back at training and silence but thought he wanted it sorted by now. This has Moses feel all over again but hoping its in that 10 day period at least..

He really can stretch this out as long as he likes.
He holds the aces here.

Penrith think they do too
They probably do. Why do they need to rush. Coming off three consecutive premierships, looking at a fourth, and if he does go, they have another Cleary to slip right in. It’s a win-win for them. We’re staring down the barrel of yet another player turning down a 4-5 million dollar offer and all of the negative optics that come with it. We’re the ones who should be nervous.

Penrith are in one of the most unique situations there is. They don’t have to sell themselves to players, the way they run their club and play on field does all the selling for them. They’re never going to be short on quality players who want to be at the club. We’ve got to sell our arses off.

Starting to think the deadline mentioned was put forward from luai’s managament to the Tigers so that they have a nice juicy contract in their pocket as bait for the panthers. I reckon he hasn’t agreed to anything at all now and his management really pushing Penrith hard for a revised contract.
Question is if the Penrith deal doesn’t come through as planned. Do they start broadening their search with other clubs or sign with the Tigers. If we start hearing about his name with other clubs that would be all over folkes.

At the end of the day, we are in no real rush for Luai's answer. We've thrown our offer which he may or may not accept, but we are in the game at least. We sit back now and offer no further comment to the media or anyone. He let's us know when he's re-signed with Penrith. ✌️

At the end of the day, we are in no real rush for Luai's answer.
I don’t think that’s true at all. If he were to drag it into the season, we run the risk missing out on the chance of being rejected by other marquee players for ’25 cos they will have already settled their future.

AGREE here, Luai signing on would encourage AFB to do the same. Instantly we are a much better squad capable of semi finals
