Having a plan is good management.
Divulging the details of that plan to those affected by it at the beginning of pre season is poor man management. A good manager would get the top 4 winger prospects together, tell them they are his focus and that the starting positions would be determined by pre season and trial form. You have to make everyone believe that busting their arse all summer will be worth it. You don’t tell a senior player he is out of the running before he’s begun.
Maybe you do if he really is out of the running.

He is our best finisher.
Tupou and Staines are faster but not yet besting him in any other category. Charlie might this year but he has only managed 25 games in the past two seasons. Haven’t seen enough of him. Tupou I’m not sold on yet to be fair.

I’d still keep it to myself and string him along.
I’d want him in top condition to play just in case something happened to the others in the trials.
You show your hand to early, this is the reaction that is possible.
Nofa is a non-defender and has been from day 1!!
Literally runs out of the line to avoid even having to attempt to make the tackle when the pressure is on his flank...
Massive liability on the field - and even bigger liability off the field to team culture with his egomania - poor attitude - negligible work ethic and demonstrably low football IQ!
Finishers are a dime a dozen!

What Tucker said I right though. Nofa is the only one with the runs on the board. Wingers are rarely signed for their defence.
If they were, you'd all be onboard the Hymel Hunt train.
Nofa IS our best finisher. Until proven otherwise. Given a 50/50 situation, I'd back Nofa to score. I am not as confident with Staines, Tupou, Kepaoa etc.
Maybe Hunt though.

Tupou is worse. He is an awful defender. Staines might be on par.
Our wing stocks are shithouse.

Interesting I don't see you mention To'a along with Staines & Tupou. Maybe I'm not the only one that is tired of the arm waiving at dummy half?
Galvin or Doueihi could be the other centre in time.

I agree completely with Nofo on him not being a reserve grade player and have previously stated that Ron Massey should be where he starts the season, assuming that he is still here. 🤣

Doueihi is the slowest and worst lateral defender in the entire NRL and you want him at centre!!

Rubbish - this is not basketball!!
It is a two-way game and EVERY player needs to have defensive proficiency to justify NRL selection.
Nofa's "runs on the board" are equally evidenced by the disproportionate number of tries scored AGAINST the Tigers on his wing!
100% - when he has been dropped to reggies he weakens with his presence and poor attitude - OR he just feigns injury and sits out the games as he has done several times...
Wrong - Nofa actively avoids attempting the tackle!
Staines puts his body on the line as evidenced when Montoya steamrolled him in the trial - while Tupou plays with effort that is something alien to Nofa!

Watch the games - he literally creates overlaps that aren't there by running into no man's land between attackers!!

One on one, Nofo is a good defender. He can make an effective tackle. Decision making is his weakness, amplified by a lack of cover from inside.

You do not make it to the NRL and stay there for years if you refuse to tackle.
It’s a silly narrative.
Does he make poor decisions? Yes.
Does he get stranded 2-1 and made look foolish? Yes.
Does he actively refuse to tackle? Of course not. If he did, his team mates would flog him.

All our outside backs … perhaps with the exception of Staines… are below average …
Now Staines might be too… we haven’t seen enough of him yet … but I live in hope that he can be at least average…one of the few players with pace
Topou is terrible under the high ball… move him to the centres ..
At the moment … I’d be looking to Lobb to start as the other winger ( yep… another prayer Im throwing out there…) Supposedly Lobb is a great goal kicker and we could do with one of those …
