CEO - Shane Richardson

I hope you realise if Richo is there long term you won’t see the club anywhere but the Macarthur region. He’s said it before publicly that Leichhardt is not fit for NRL it’s a relic of the past.

I want them to play most of the games at Cambo in the medium - long term…the stadium will need to be upgraded first though… and that could take up to 8-10 years before some government comes up with the money

I wouldn't mind betting the reggies will be changed to Wests Tigers as well.
It's funny how your feelings change.... Well. Mine personally anyway, I always try and change with the times adapt etc.

I used to think back in 99 I'd never accept a JV... took ma a few years to come around to it but I was a very pro magpie/WT fan Wests this and Wests that were always very important

Nowadays I couldn't care less if there's no magpie on the sleeve, if reggies are called WTs instead of magpies... We need to grow and move forward .. We can leave our history in the b/ground but it's history, not prominent... We're big boys now we gotta stand on our own

Some. Oldies won't accept this ever... One day though there'll be none left

Been watching a bit of the bye round podcast round table discussions featuring Shane Richardson.
He has a background in business / accounting and also football operations. His preference is football operations. And was in a position as GM of football at South Sydney that answered directly to the board in the same vertical alignment as the CEO Blake Solley whom for Souths ran the commercial side of South Sydney. James Graham confirmed that is how the Bulldogs are set up with Gus Gould.
With that said I wouldn’t be surprised if over the next 6 months he recommends the appointment of a CEO and takes on the GM of football role full time.
Shane Richardson would never have come to our club if had the same governance and just appointed him to work within.

If you’re playing at Campbelltown exclusively you want to start training at Campbelltown exclusively. We may not have the resources correct at the moment but that would be the long term goal. If you are going to try and get buy in to a growth area you need the players to be as ingrained in the area as the community is.
Agree, and this is why I don’t understand why we didn’t invest the COE money on a Campbelltown COE and ground facilities. We seemed to be hedging our bets, I call the concord facilities Canberra bcoz we couldn’t decide where to have our capital city Cambo or Liechart so we set up in the middle far away from both and now we’ve just spent crap loads spec’n the place up, when we all know we should be heading to Cambo.
But in saying all that we don’t wanna give up the Balmain area so we need to continually invest there too.
The other thing I reckon has held us back all these years from committing to Cambo is our backing is Ashfield, which used to be the western suburbs of Sydney, (for the young folk).
We also need to commit to the Wests Tigers by name and jersey all the way down, with no Balmain and no West Magpies. One team.

Isn't the majority of corporate support from the city and inner west areas? If so, half the home games will continue to be played either at Leichhardt or another venue in those areas. Until such time as the South West can come up with the corporate support required, any talk of a full-time move to Campbelltown imo is just that. I support the South West but we need to be realistic.

Does the corporate support really care how they split the games between the two grounds?

Didnt a lot of the COE money come from the Canada Bay council? Their rate payers aren’t going to pay money to build something in Campbelltown

That doesn’t answer my question though …
Corporate support enjoys the coverage/exposure/relationship the club has in the former Wests Magpies and Balmain junior areas. The challenge is to get corporate support from the Campbelltown/Macarthur regions for coverage of that region.

again … I don’t see how this is relevant to how they split the games …

The local Balmain smash repairer can still sponsor one of the players… even if they are playing only 1-2 games a year at LO

The club, which is based around WA, has a different view. Your example of a smash repairer is a bit of hyperbole.

It’s not the local Balmain smash repairer though. It’s the higher profile businesses that all exist within the city region. There isn’t the same kind of corporate support out in the south west.

But why do those companies care where they play? Some would even rather the demographics of the Campbelltown area compared to the inner west …
