Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Nice problem.... But we did all this yesterday ay
Not really as most are dismissing the possibility all 3 could be genuine NRL starting quality within now to 12 months time.
Obviously Sullivan has come here hoping to cement himself as a regular week to week starting NRL halve.
Latu Fainu already had a few standout performances playing NSW Cup in 2023, so I’m sure he too hopes to play a fair bit of NRL in 2024.
As many have mentioned, Galvin is the real mystery as to if and how soon he will be ready for regular NRL. The fact that it’s being reported he’s already one of the very fittest and best trainers within the NRL squad is a pretty fair indication he might be ready much sooner than some think.
I agree it would be a good problem as it should mean our NRL team are winning many more games than most of us expect them to.

What happens if all 3 of Sullivan, Fainu and Galvin live up to expectation very quickly and become just as valuable to us as Luai ?
I’d say this would be an awesome problem to have. Can’t see any downside in having too many gun halves. You would have no problem trading a gun half as they are always in super high demand. Pick the ones you want to keep / who want to stay, and trade the other(s) for good recruits in other needed positions. Given our last 10 years I would love to have the problem of all our halves living up to expectations.

My bet is Richo got wind of this and pulled our offer, so we didn't miss out again
Does Finicune’s contract finish in 2024? That money would help the Sharks cover most of AFB’s contract from 2025 and give them a massive upgrade.

Finucane is contracted for '25 but his deal is apparently heavily front-loaded.

Reports suggest his deal goes from about $750-850k in 2024 to $300-325k in 2025.

Another thing with AFB going to Cronulla is he will be 29/30 in his first year, so 33/34 in his last year. Really big body that may not age well, could work out, but definitely a consideration at $1 mill

We have a lot to learn re governance and also non disclosure. Cowboys and Sharks make signings without a F!!!!!! peep. Great signings, I wish we had both of them.
Well the announcement of the 2 offical contracts went out when our club was run by the former heads of administration

I don't understand the Fainu recruitment $500 k a season and same for his brother .
If we have Sezer and Sullivan and possibly Luai . Why ?
Seems like the last great torpedo fired by Lee and Justin getting the Manly insider as chief recruiter . We have 240 pages correctly upset at a long standing winger with a bad attitude getting $500k .However little said about a kid who's never played NRL getting the same
Mate, in 2025 when Latu is a star tearing it up for the tigers week in week out I will truly be very interested on how you reconcile it with this relentless complaining about the Tigers signing a junior prodigy !! At some point Fittler , Lewis , Thurston , Cameron Smith Ponga had all not played first grade and been untested but the scouts saw something in them and signed them ..

Actually he will be 32 at the time of the last game of that 4 yr contract

I went to training today to watch the guys run around. They were playing a full contact game with a referee. Looked like an "A" side full of first grade players and a "B" side of those battling to get into first grade. A few things I saw...

The A team had Lobb on left wing, inside Toupu at centre. Right wing was Staines with Toa at centre. Benji was playing in the halves and looked as good as ever.

Noffa was in the B team on the right wing. One of the few breaks made was done his wing and John Morris was yelling at him and the centre (not sure who it was).

Plenty of guys not training or training by themselves. Klemmer had a bad leg/knee and was noticably limping. Joining him on his walks around the oval was Twal who looked fine and Douhie, who later on was walking with ice on his left leg.

Api was just watching, but looked uninjured. Was practicing kicking goals from the sideline.

When they were doing their running drills, Ice, Naden and Sezer were the too loud talkers, trying to motivate the younger boys. Sezer looked good in the game too and was very talkative in both offence and defence. Naden was playing in the halves for the B team and did a decent job, wearing a pink bib, so wasnt allowed to be tackled.

Galvin, Feledy plus a couple of other young guys were just doing running drills. Latu Fainu and Jordan Miller were not training at all but looked uninjured.

Sullivan was training by himself doing wrestling and running drills.

I miss my footy 🙂

I'm sick of Benji playing in the halves at training. This has to stop
