Latu Fainu

Still in primary school but permanently lost my faith in justice after that game.

I also recollect that Bernie Purcell was our main hooker through that year.....but he got caned in the scrums at Endeavour last round in the minor premiership game against Cronulla's Johnny Mcmartin....like everyone else.
John Purcell?

I was a bit disappointed at how he was used.
They're down 20-0 and he's thrown in at dummy half to shovel the ball. What was the point of flying him to England to do that?
Tui was playing like a busted so put the kid on at 6, tell him to play footy and hope for a miracle.
100% right.

Tonga's use of Latu was not great for him personally, but the experience of hanging with some big names will do wonders for his development.

Latu Fainu was charged for a dangerous throw and even with the guilty plea will miss one match. Guess we know he won’t be in the 17 for Round 1 now.

If Benji is smart, he names him for round 1.

How does it make Benji smart to name him? You think he’s ready?
No I don’t think he’s ready but I’m assuming that a 1 match penalty received at International level cannot be served in reserve grade? Unless it can be served during the trials which I thought I read had been closed as a loophole…?
If this is all true, then he has a debt to serve at some time during the premiership rounds. Name him round 1, even though you prepare with someone else and get him squared away so that we can use him exactly when we do want him without having that hanging over his head.

Trials you can’t serve the suspension anyone can play regardless if they’re suspended. If it happens in internationals I’m assuming you can serve the suspension in reserves but I’m not 100% sure. I’ll have to try and find that out but if he’s suspended I don’t see Benji trying to name him I’ll be surprised if he does.

The OP is just suggesting to "name him" to burn the suspension. That's all. I'm not sure how it works as people suspended aren't typically named.

If trial games don't count then I'm guessing he just has to sit out a game in round one regardless of what grade it might be.

How the hell would the Judiciary know what his coach/club might be thinking as far as the grade that he might be selected in or play in.

All the talk about Galvin - Fainu is only 1 month older and has played half a season of nsw cup and was nsw u19s playmaker at 17. He dominated Harrold Matt's at 15. He will partner Laui long term in the halves and is the best young half coming through.

I agree in principle, but as with Galvin u never know what’s going to happen. As they say there’s plenty of Australian schoolboys digging ditches by the side of the road!
Considering that Galvin didn’t even play in the halves when we win the junior title. A lot of hype around these two kids, let’s just see how it plays out.
What I do like is having two to three great kids in our halves fighting for positions. Not all of them will make it, but better chance the more talent u have.
We haven’t had this type of competition in the halves for at least a decade, bring it on!

Agreed. I want to keep Galvin (preferably moving to other positions), but I am more excited to see what Fainu can do. Already proven he can handle the physicality at Cup and to a lesser extent International level. think it is a matter of when (not if) Fainu will make the 6 jersey his own.
