Jarome Luai

Only thing I’ll say is I’m a little disappointed that it hasn’t already been announced. The excitement level a couple weeks before Christmas was at fever pitch. I think with how much everyone got themselves pumped, if it had gone down then, it would have been considered one on the biggest moments in the club’s history and Luai the biggest signing. I think with it being dragged out the way it has, it’s taken the edge off the excitement level. It will still be a big moment, but it will be a tad anti-climactic. I’m not going to rant and complain though like some entitled diva. My excitement level is irrelevant. The club doesn’t have to run on my schedule. It will happen when it happens.
Outside looking in he’s either holding out for a bigger Dogs offer or we’re trying to negotiate an early release. I care about outcomes, and I trust we will start to see better ones now.

That was a good get as he was virtually over the line with the Broncos. He at the very least agreed to terms.
Richo said GI felt disrespected by news ltd and they were just shipping him to their other club. He said Greg needed to feel the love.

Maybe some parallels to our man Jarome?

I agree he should have declared his allegiance to WT by now while the formalities are sorted out.
Or is there a spanner in the works? If so it should have been fixed by now to avoid the speculation.
He doesn’t have to declare his allegiance to WT’s till November 1 next year. What do you want him to do, put a jersey on and record a video? Remember when our coach did that when he signed with the Auckland Blues? The forum went into meltdown mode. He has no commitment’s to us until next off season. He doesn’t even have to acknowledge our existence. Doesn’t mean he won’t be all in once he gets here.

It can be done without your exxageration and dramatics...its possible to do it in a respectful way

I’m very thankful to Wests Tigers/ Canterbury Bulldogs for securing my family’s future. I’m now very focused on winning a fourth consecutive premiership playing second fiddle at Penrith.

It’s very rare that players will go into detail about their future club. You never see them quoted in a press release. It’s usually them saying they are looking to focus on finishing strongly with their current club. Besides, what is Luai expected to do atm? He’s in the middle of the biggest contract negotiation of his career. As ego centric as he is, he knows better than to blather about it like the idiot who used to call himself our Chairman. It’s not Luai’s job to announce the deal or even comment on it at this stage.

If he signs, why is it so important that he comes out and says that? Is the fact that he’s committed to the club for the next 4-5 years not enough of an endorsement?

I'd like to know, but well and truly over sweating about it. At the same time from his position prospectively joining the club in 2025 there is plenty of time for announcements, and time to express his allegiance well before he has to wear the jersey. He is still a Penrith player first and foremost for another full season.

Showing gratitude is good manners?

Honestly don’t care if he makes a statement but if he’s stringing us along like Moses he’ll end up in my Moses category of shit blokes.

I was only commenting on how it could be done briefly, subtly and respectfully unlike Benjis disaster, im not fussed personally if it happens or not which id say is very unlikely

I’m yet to see any player in my 37 years on this planet, publicly thank their new club for their new contract.
That’s not worth my time spent googling. Don’t care about the announcement myself but the club needs to move forward with contingencies if he isn’t going to commit. Worst case scenario is another Moses fiasco as I have now repeated for the last time.

How it SHOULD go IMO.

Tigers announce his signing for whatever dates he's signed. Richo/Benji do all the talking.

LUAI thanks the PANTHERS fans & club for all they have given him. No need to make ANY statement about the Tigers until he is in our colours.

I wouldn't want any more than "I'm excited to have secured my future". More than that & you open up the press to go to town.

Keep repeating it till the cows come home, it doesn’t make it true. Just because the club is keeping things close to their chest and not leaking like a civ doesn’t mean there’s reason to go into panic mode.

If the club knows he’s committed and are keeping it close to their chest then my point is a moot one. It would be admirable if it’s giving him time to sort out a fractured relationship with his current club. None of us know one way or the other, even Chammas.

I don't think he should have declared anything. It is the club that announces player signings, not the players.
I assume the reports that he has agreed to terms are accurate. But if any sort of hold up (of which there are many possible scenarios; issues with being able to register with NRL, CEO availability, squabbles over 3rd parties) means the contract is not yet finalised he would only be doing himself a disservice if he was to announce anything.

There is another possibility? Luai announced his intention to take up the Tigers offer only to bring Bulldogs into the frame in order to squeeze more from Penrith?
Chamas has been awfully quiet since he declared Luai has signed with Tigers, which Luai denied 24hrs later.
These amateurish journos are causing most of the nonsense.

That is a possibility. Chammas hasn't been quiet, just been on leave. His last comment on it was actually that Luai was going to the Bulldogs.
I'm not declaring the Luai deal done or anything. Just that even if it were done it is not for him to make any such announcement. If it is not yet done it would be foolish for him to declare anything publicly.
Personally, I'm not nervously anticipating his decision. I don't care if he signs or not. I think he is a fine player that would be a good get for the club but no chance of performing to his reported price.
