OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - Official

Munster was horrible in 2023. He's regressing and 3 years older than Luai. Obviously a big game player and great origin player but I think with Mam and Dearden coming through he doesn't have much longer in the origin arena post-30
Beggars can’t be choosers. I’ll take Luai thanks. Imagine being a Saints fan and having to get excited about Ronald Volkman in comparison.

Munster won't go down in history at all because he chose the safety of Melbourne over testing himself.
He'll anonymously fade into history once his playing days are done.
Luai has a chance to be remembered forever.
Exactly. If you can’t get pumped by this, somethings wrong.

Luai's comments in the SMH were very interesting. It seems Canterbury were a lot closer to getting him than some of us thought. He talked about his brothers at the club and described Ciraldo as his second father. it'd be interesting to see what the clincher was for him coming to WT. Was it money or something else?

If Luai succeeds at Tigers, he will be remembered as a better player. To turn this rabble around is one of the great achievements. If Luai fails, his legacy will be tainted and the "nothing without Cleary" statement will be somewhat justified. But what won't change is he's a 3-series origin player (1 win), 3 time premiership winner, played a big part in Samoa to a world cup final (first tier 2 nation in history), and won 2 minor premierships. That is a resume ANY player would be happy to retire with

Anyone else noticed the original social media post with him photoshopped into the jersey has been taken down and replaced?
I just praised the club but that was stupid. Do other clubs do this as well?

Of course it was the money. He wasn’t coming here for 800k. It’s naive/ignorant to think otherwise. Was even the first thing he mentioned in the presser. That’s not to say he hasn’t bought into Benji’s vision. He’s for five years. He hasn’t really got a choice.

Honestly we had to be prepared to pay overs to get a big name player here, hell we have to pay overs to get a second rate player here. I think he is a huge signing for the club & one we desperately needed, talent attracts talent. He is hopefully the signing that helps us turn the corner & makes other talented players take notice of the club & consider joining us & not just using us to drive their price up.

You and I don't know what Canterbury offered but I'll bet it was a lot more than $800k. It may have been close to our offer which would mean money wasn't the deciding factor.

Can only assume by what he said in the PC about wanting to prove himself, if he went to the dogs with Ciraldo and the handful of former Panthers there i guess people would still question whether its him or them.
At least now he is the man he's been handed the keys for 25 and he wants to deliver he seems confident he can deliver thats admirable i guess.
Wouldnt have hurt we offered more how much more thats up for debate but it is still reportedly more.
He wants to stand on his own 2 feet apart from Api he's really got the chance to do that in tigers colours.

I think you on the money. I think it was the money and the challenge combined.

At the end of the day, he‘s got no fear. Thats a good thing.

Strange game implying people arent pumped because they offer an opinion Munster would have been a bigger name signing.

Nothing to do with levels of excitement for the Luai signing. Thats in your head.

It’s nice to get an influx of winners. Crazy that we’ll have half of Penrith’s spine in 25.

That, amongst other things.

Pretty small thing in the scheme of things but awkward for the social media team. Not Eels level incompetence of posting the wrong player at least.

It's been funny to see SMH get the inside scoops on this the whole way through. Luai can clearly hold a grudge (rightly so imo).

Judging by the presser, Benji was the main reason Luai picked us over the opposition, specifically the Bulldogs and won't that just annoy the hell out of Gould. Love it. Well done.
I said it all along. The bond he was forming with his childhood idol was trumping his Bulldog connections. Sounds like he was ready for a change. And a complete breakaway from anything related to the Panthers. Too many comparisons at the Dogs.
