Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Ha. Not having a go, but modelling and acting is probably a step up from pretending to be a retired Latino wrestler on the internet. Ariba!
Mmm. When is the history of mankind has someone initiated a sentence with not having a go, but then actually not had a go.

It’s called an alias Masterton. Kyle Lovett wishes he had Titos life - as do you. This is much the reason for my note on here that no one on here will actually know anyone in real life so who cares. But, you’ve fired your shot now. Play the comment, not the man.

If your alias represents who you are, you’re probably as lame as the types of houses Masterton build. Hope you’re enjoying your asbestos riddled spec home from home world 2.

I’m looking forward to a two pack punch with Kit and Chris carting it up through the middle with their great leg drive, low centre of gravity and passing game. Both ‘long term’ make the bench for mine at least if not with 1 playing 13 the other off the bench.
Matumua doesn’t have that same leg drive for me. And being a junior half doesn’t play as agressive. He does have the best hands out of everyone and defensively is strong but your just not going to get a Radley or Murray or Cotter style out of him.
I haven’t seen too much of Matamua barring his couple of appearances in NRL.
What’s his speed like? Any chance of manufacturing a centre out of him?

No he doesn't look mobile enough at all for the centres. He moves more like a Curtis Sironen former 5/8 now lock.

Many doubt his ability but I think he can be an NRL lock in the future. He defends well, and plays really straight in attack with a nice shift. He seems to relish a specific role. He has not had a specific role in his NRL appearances. Much like Seyfarth. Both have been mismanaged badly when you look at their strengths.

I have him behind Kit simply because Kit seems to have that attitude of "ill make it happen" no matter what, but Justin can certainly play.

You’re still arguing with yourself mate . I was merely explaining the Matamua logic . Pole is the best of the bunch for sure . I’m merely talking in Prototypes mate . Once again cause you keep missing this point , so I’ll say it again … I honestly don’t care as long as we develop one of them . Like I said already like 3 times , Matamua fits a certain mould/prototype . That’s what people are seeing . But you’re 💯 right . His output has everyone asking huh? .
That's it .give them a chance if they pan out we keep them ,if not let them go

It kinda just hit me that Jarome Luai is officially gonna be the face of our club and the 7 to build all our success around moving forward - the more I think about it, the more I smile as we couldn’t have picked a better character for that role.

People look at skillset a lot (deservingly so) however, for THIS particular club you need someone more strong mentally and someone who can come and help build a culture whilst being the main man. You combine this mentality and experience (3 peat) and partner him with the freshest 6 prospect in the league in Fainu and we’ll see some magic. It’s an unbelievable combination and great mentor for young Latu.

Coming into a team that hasn’t made the 8 for 12-13 years is very daunting and regardless of your skill it can demoralise you as there’s a process, however Jarome seems to like the fact we’re struggling and wants to be the catalyst of change. That’s a rare trait in todays game.

Latrell didn’t want that responsibility. Yet, Jarome craves it. I admire that heavily and is probably a main reason for his success. I feel like win, lose or draw if Luai is our 7 one things for certain and that’s we won’t lack anything in the effort deportment.

Side note: Kit Lataulili looks to me a much better prospect than Matamua imo. He had a short showing but he looked like he belonged there and did bend the line on occasions. I’d definitely look into giving him a bench spot next year at the very least. Faguta seems to be the best 13 prospect out of the lot but he may need some more time in NSW cup but he’ll get his debut very soon I reckon.
I liked that some of the senior Penrith players said at training went they are down and out mentally flat he comes in pumps the team up and leads the sessions

if true that is a brilliant signing to fill the sixth development spot. attacking weapon with 26 try involvements in 21 games and averaging 135 metres a game. nice Richo.
His gym just confirmed it on Instagram haha

This is a low risk, high reward signing that puts immediate pressure on our backline.

Pumped for this one. Was a beast in the Q cup.

16 tries and 10 try assists last season with the premiers.

Hope he is good, but how annoying is a highlights package with 2/3 frames removed to make the player appear more magical?

Sometimes slow to read in defence.

Seems to be very focused on his game not game aware.

Fixable.

great work again Richo.

if you want a player comp, Faataape is Kotoni Staggs reincarnate. great fend, explosive pace and strength and can set up his outside man via his physical gifts.

similar to Kotoni, there are concerns in regards to his defence, but these things can be fixed. pretty exciting young fella to have in the building. welcome, Sol!

Believe we're at 29 for NRL. Think it's a dev too.
This guy has big wraps, stolen from right under
the storms nose. Really solid pick up he is 👌🏽

They're getting rid of Olam (Apparently)
Playing the likes of Seve and Tonumapeia in front of him (?)
- And in front of this guy....

Certainly worth a crack, But try not to get too carried away...

Isn’t Shane Richardson close to Easts Tigers? Used to play and coach there?
100% correct. I have seen him play in q cup probably 4-5 times. He’s very good in attack, solid defence , strong as shit. Not your tall centre, but I think he’s a great pick up, richo would have seen him a lot with his easts tigers involvement. Richo was there ceo I believe for a period .
