Australia Day

It's not a woke conspiracy you dweeb lol. Those
companies aren't making money from the cheap
nicknacks that they sell, there's not much demand
for them. Boycott both, I'm absolutely positive
that they'll miss your weekly shopping trips haha
Dweeb, really.

You honestly think it's purely profit motivated.

You're not a dweeb, I take that back Spartan lol
we've come a long way since reprimanding me
in the DM's bro. I think there may be a slight push
from elements of radical left, but also think that
the numbers don't lie. There have been a drop
in sales across the bored for Australia day gear,
it's documented. Most of the stuff ends up in
the bargain bin out front a few days later, like
Halloween decorations and whatnot. I don't see
why anyone would want to cancel Australia day

Interesting for those proclaiming the declining commercial sales of Australia Day merchandise is the only thing why Woolies has stopped it...

The board advises on issues that effect indigenous
communities, such as the Dan Murphys megastore
near three dry Aboriginal communities in Darwin.
They don't mandate what should & shouldn't
be sold to a billion dollar business such as Woolies.
God forbid they had a voice on matters that effect
them & their communities, eh. More scare mongering

Yep

Wollies and Aldi are pandering... I will boycott both.

I will be proudly flying My Nations flag this year from my porch.

Look around and remember how great this place is.
Howabout the group that are being asked to celebrate the start of their genocide? Or is that just pandering/wokeism?

Coles and Woolworths made nearly 3 billion combined in profits last year. I don’t think they are worrying that a few are boycotting cos they aren’t selling 50c flags made in China.

So youre saying with big profits like that, whether they sell 50cent tat or not it doesnt really matter to their bottom line and it was purely a political woke agenda they are pushing, masking it as a profit issue to try and escape any criticism? Ive never agreed more with you GNR, you hit the nail on the head.

Very Salty in this thread at the moment.

I just introduced myself to my Woolies delivery driver, he’s fairly knew, previously they have been Indian and I loved taking the piss during the WC.
This new bloke is Afghany been here 10 years. In Afghanistan he worked for the Ozy federal police for about 5 years and they offered him a move to Oz, which he and his wife accepted. He’s now living on the mid north coast of NSW, 3 kids, works 6 days a week delivering groceries, just got a transfer from Kempsey to PMQ base which is where he lives. I said about Oz Day and he looked up at me with a big smile and said yes Oz Day and we both had a little fist pump. Then I said the Afghans have a cricket team do you follow cricket? He says yes, and says how he couldn’t watch the last game against England bcoz it started at 1am. I will have to educate him that the English are called Poms in Oz. He loves it here and doesn’t even understand what we are debating about, he doesn’t care what date it is, he just wants to celebrate living in this great lucky country with a day out in the sun with a BBQ, by the water, with a game a cricket, footy, thong throwing, etc.
Remember if you’re an Ozzy than you were born lucky.
Sounds exactly like my Woolies driver, well ex-woolies driver, I now get Coles delivered.

IMO this is the stupidity and narrowmindedness of the "change the date" argument. It DID happen. British colonisation obviously had a massive impact on indigenous people and that cant and shouldnt be ignored and it started on the day of arrival of the first fleet........

What is also true is that Australia is an incredible and beautiful country with so much to be proud of, the majority of which is downstream of british colonialism and wouldnt have happened without it and all of us, including indigenous Australians benefit from it.

Both things are true, both things are real, both things happened. By changing the date we give up the opportunity to have a genuine acknowledgement and a mature approach to a day that should be commemorated and acknowledged for everything it means to all of us. Changing the date is to deny history.

There are 1,112 stores in Australia. There are
minimum fulfilment orders in retail too when
you buy wholesale from manufacturers. $2 here
and there adds up to millions of dollars lmao
Not the gotcha you thought it was Winston...

Also you know this is a profit/loss thing only as youve seen their spreadsheets right? Whats their profit on a packet of Pringles?

The date has already been changed multiple times though?

Point is it's supposed to be a day of celebration - not mourning.
