Australia Day

or the French who give up nothing - we could be eating croissants and cheese and speaking French... well... maybe not so bad oui?
We could easily be speaking Dutch, given they were the first to find Australia, but left cos they had no use for it.

The statement was 'this cheap imported junk isn't selling'.
People don't buy that crap anymore. Those that want that stuff already have it at home. Therefore sales are very low, most products go unsold or reduced to 50cents to clear the stock. So supermarkets have stopped offering a product that the public don't want.

If queenslanders still want to buy a new flag every year then maybe the local stores up that way should accommodate their tastes

that was WA hey? Bet the sand gropers now wish they could succeed to the Dutch - they a different breed over there..

It’s a shame that 99% of Australians give the so called 1st nations 27 days a year to celebrate there culture, yet they refuse to let us have 1 day a year , and regardless of when the white people arrived , it would have happened , they are just lucky it wasn’t the Spainards they my have killed them all
or the Chinese. They literally force minorities out and transplant Han Chinese into these places to breed them out.

Chinese minorities say hi...........whats left of them.

Seems I've upset the snowflake
The classic 'resort to name calling' when no valid argument is forthcoming

Yoss is no snowflake and doesn't throw a hissyfit like some we know when they're called out for providing wrong info
Seems I've upset the snowflake
Far be it for me to speak on Yoss' behalf but we've been reading each other's thoughts on things for nearly two decades, he doesn't get upset easy especially from some blow in try hard resorting to name calling when called out to provide facts etc.
I advised you before to get a thicker skin when your "scoops" on Luai fell apart and ppl called you out.

Just be yourself.. you're not impressing anyone trying to be something you're not

You can never please everyone and you will drive yourself insane trying to.
There will never be consensus with this issue.
Agreed. In this age of perpetual outrage and appeasement, some group somewhere will have a problem with whatever day is picked; they'll dig up some imagined or real slight that occurred to them at some time in the past 200 years and it'll be a new issue all over again.

Very Salty in this thread at the moment.

I just introduced myself to my Woolies delivery driver, he’s fairly knew, previously they have been Indian and I loved taking the piss during the WC.
This new bloke is Afghany been here 10 years. In Afghanistan he worked for the Ozy federal police for about 5 years and they offered him a move to Oz, which he and his wife accepted. He’s now living on the mid north coast of NSW, 3 kids, works 6 days a week delivering groceries, just got a transfer from Kempsey to PMQ base which is where he lives. I said about Oz Day and he looked up at me with a big smile and said yes Oz Day and we both had a little fist pump. Then I said the Afghans have a cricket team do you follow cricket? He says yes, and says how he couldn’t watch the last game against England bcoz it started at 1am. I will have to educate him that the English are called Poms in Oz. He loves it here and doesn’t even understand what we are debating about, he doesn’t care what date it is, he just wants to celebrate living in this great lucky country with a day out in the sun with a BBQ, by the water, with a game a cricket, footy, thong throwing, etc.
Remember if you’re an Ozzy than you were born lucky.

Can't stand the word 'woke', overused like the
word 'anti-semitic'. Now which one of you
bogans on here are going to be wearing rubber
aussie flip flops with flags & cheap plastic cups
made in China? Lmao. Such a beat-up holiday
Sadly Kaito, nearly everything that you wear any day of the year is made in China. Or more to this point . . . safe to say that more than 90% of what you wear is made overseas.

I think this tread might be coming to a end , but I would like to say before it does , that must on this subject have kept it cordial, even when must didn’t agree to certain posts , we will never see eye to eye not only on this subject but many others , but that’s good , because god made us all different , so just remember everyone is entitled to there view , but also remember to make sure that u make ur decisions on facts not emotions. Time to get back to the footy only 7 weeks to go , GO THE TIGERS 🐅

Of course the question is what is the most appropriate day for it. As a 7th generation ageing white Australian I’ve started to finally, really think about it.
We currently celebrate 26/1 as the landing day, but our indigenous brothers and sisters refer to it as Invasion Day. Probably a 50/50 call, depending whether you were on a boat or on the shoreline.
Is 1/1 the correct day, when we established our own constitution ? Seems to me that would help solve a lot of dispute. Only problem is it would be a huge double header ( New Years Eve rolling into Australia Day), I think we’d need another holiday on the 2/1 called Recovery Day.
What other dates do forumers see as appropriate ? It’s a tricky one !
I reckon avoid a date altogether. Make it the last Friday in January -public holiday long weekend and no actual date for anyone to get their knickers in a twist over.

Very true bro. The joys of free market capitalism
I suppose! where individuals & companies can
outsource labour & import cheap material and
sell them here for higher profit margins. Nothing
is made in Australia anymore which is a shame,
the overheads are so high for material & labour
(which isn't unique to Oz). Emerging markets
are getting all the biz whilst a select few here
get wealthy off of it. Point this out & you get
called a marxist or a communist which is hilarious

Actually, there are a surprising number of small volume/specialist manufacturers popping up around the place in Australia.

None of them are producing cheap plastic tat for 'true patriots' to proudly display on the 26th though 😉

Yep

Wollies and Aldi are pandering... I will boycott both.

I will be proudly flying My Nations flag this year from my porch.

Look around and remember how great this place is.

It's not a woke conspiracy you dweeb lol. Those
companies aren't making money from the cheap
nicknacks that they sell, there's not much demand
for them. Boycott both, I'm absolutely positive
that they'll miss your weekly shopping trips haha

Yeah there are you're right PB. Mostly boutique
