Sounds like you know it all. Why should our name be derived from the Latin?
People pushing for a different date for Australia day do so because they see that date as an invasion. If so wouldn't an aboriginal name be more appropriate?
A few decades ago a late night jockey on radio might have mentioned a flag change and being laughed at.
But......
Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Formosa etc, etc.
Certainly could see states being renamed. Not saying Australia will change its name for sure but it may be proposed.
Not impossible with numerous precedents especially following the rejection of colonisation and occupation which is how white settlement is increasingly seen as.

As far as I'm aware the South African Woolworths Holdings does not own any shares in the Australian Woolworths Group.
I’m not in favour of changing the date or the flag but definitely think we should change the name of the country. May I suggest Hakowee.

The lack of clarity and simplicity around the Voice question was a major, if not the primary reason for it failing so miserably.
Something more akin to - Do you feel Australia should become a republic? , is more likely to be successful in my opinion.
If you set the question up as a double, as per your suggested no. 1, then you need people to agree with BOTH parts in order to be confident in them voting yes. If people agree with the first, but not the second, or the second, but not the first, they will err on the side of caution and vote no most likely.
You can then have subordinate questions to follow, as you suggested doing with the Aus Day date for no. 2.

I doubt it....would detract from the commemoration of Anzac Day, the "we will remember them, lest we forget" part would be ....um....forgotten. Also hardly a day for "celebration".

There is no day in the calendar that would be acceptable to the activists. It isn't the day that is objectionable to them, it is non Aboriginal Australians that are objectionable. Always was. always will be. There isn't much wriggle room in those words.

And u think idiots like Lidya Thorpe or mayo or that aboriginal minister who could not put one sentence together when asked questions , would be happy with that date , they don’t want any date the sooner u realise that u will see it for what it is

I guess there wasn't an Australian officer senior enough to take command of the whole Australian contingent, however nearly all battalion and brigade commanders were Australian. So they commanded the troops, but not the campaign.
Remember too, that Australia offered 20 000 troops to the crown in any composition to fight in any location at the outbreak of WW1 . The Australian government considered itself still a colony in most respects.
Subsequently though Australians continue to take orders from overseas commanders. Even Blamey was under Macarthurs orders. Australians have always been involved in overseas conflicts where they were the junior force in numbers.
What really changed after Morants execution during the Boer War in 1902 was that Australians weren't under foreign Courts Martial even when serving under foreign command I believe.
With regards the date.
Anzac day is already a more important day.
However activists could claim that the Dardanelles campaign was an Empire cause where at least 50% of Australians involved were born overseas anyway and where the Australian involvement wan a minority in numbers for the total force employed and was another Australian involvement in a foreign war hardly worth celebrating.
Then you'll have the rape in war brigade.
That's the problem with activists.

I fully support ANZAC DAY my favourite day on the calendar, the only day I celebrate really but
Playing DEVIL'S ADVOCATE if we have Australia Day on the 25th of April it could be construed that we are celebrating the invasion of another country?
