I've been watching our games over the last couple of months I know I'm a masochist.Im convinced we could or should have won 5 or 6 more games if not for stupid errors.By that I mean pushed passes dumb penalties sple dropped balls etc .Stuff the good sides don't do.if benji can fix those errors where halfway there to the 8and our new players should hopefully do the rest.Anybody agree.

Before 2005 errors were the team’s worst enemy… the best years - the error count was way down. Wouldn’t mind a kinder whistle though… (not going to list recent indiscretions - you know them, and loathe them)

Poor discipline is part and parcel of being a poor side.

The game is a delicate balancing act between risk and reward. Jimmy Maloney was probably one of the most successful halves of recent years because he didn’t let errors define him.

You need players who have the courage to take the risks and the instincts to know when to play conservative.

Our young roster, built largely from other clubs off-cuts has a long way to go to get this balance right.

The coaches role is to pick the players he trusts to respond best to failing.

Rewatching 2023 season? You getting an award today? You get my vote for Australian of the year for bravery.

I honestly believe at times throughout the 2023 season the players were in a mindset that our attack was so poor that they were not getting any reward when defending well.
There is little doubt we have a lot more attacking flair heading into the 2024 season.
We have more players capable of making line breaks and scoring long range tries and can only hope that puts belief in the players that strong defensive effort will lead to points scored as a reward for effort.

Yep, Benji will employ a 250 pass a day regime.

In all seriousness, I think most seasons have the same issue and all teams do it but the top ones back them up better than we do. Fingers crossed there’s an improvement.

Another key thing about errors is fitness is a huge contributing factor. Imo we just don't seem as fit as the top teams. Fatigue sets in then frustration then we make silly choices like throwing silly passes that aren't on or simple drop balls because the fatigue is affecting their concentration and focus. I think if we become fitter our error rate will drop, by how much iv no idea honestly cause they just didn't look very well coached last year so didn't really have a plan for what to do when they were under the pump and things didn't go their way.
