Curious what people expect for 2024

Do we see us making the 8? I can see us pushing around the 12th-14th mark. Yet the competition is fearce.

If Benji gets 16th, is this a success? If we don't play finals are we a failure?

Just want players having a go, finding consistency and improving.

On that basis, I’m ok if we don’t actually win many games.

It’s great to jag the win, but I’d rather earn it.

If we can build and not slip, we will surprise ourselves. Especially the kids, very exciting, enigmatic prospects.

9/12 Th , but team has a good old fashion go every week ,
semi final berth you just never know
05. Was never on the cards , but it happened

I am not aiming too high.

Given we have won 4 games in the last 2 years (total of 8), I think if we win 8, then that demonstrates improvement . That will put us about 11-13 on the ladder. Not top 8 but a strong step in the right direction.

I’m from the Adam O’Brien school, Rome wasn’t built in a day. You can still play good footy and lose but eventually the good habits, fitness and learnings set in and you start winning.

We’ve got a few options, Benji won’t work out his best side for 4 or 5 rounds. But he won’t cop schoolie errors from first graders for too long.

Just not one step back, that’s all I ask.

Win more than you lose.
It’s been a long long time….
Hey Tuck,I very much appreciate your input to the forum and as such many of us have our own opinions how we will go in 2024,,,from my insight as a player of both codes rugby and league, this season really has me hyped up that we are turning a corner and leaving the sad and incompetant club by the wayside....How do you ask ? we seem to have completely got rid of the boys club, the people in place want the club and team to be a success,no more just jobs for the boys and giving money to players that expect the big paycheck for being juniors or players with big reputations ...It seems to me that the team that is in vogue for 24 has to earn their spot or go to ressies ,NO MORE ...Ive DONE ENOUGH ,I want to be paid...
If we can play for 80 and put in win, lose or draw I will be very happy whatever the out come...
My dad who is now deceased always told me "If you do your very best to win lose or draw I will be proud of you "there is no better advice than from your dads mouth...
I hope the WTs do us proud,,,.

13th - 15th

Im still a bit doubtful on the backs and where our points are coming from

I really hope we eventually see an end to the boring style passing for passings sake footy we've had the last few years, very unimaginitave.
Not expecting major changes straight off but I hope we get to see an entertaining brand of footy... That will take time if it is to eventuate.
Hopefully a fairly significant improvement on the last 2 years

Ladder position may be an indicator of success in some form, but a rise up the ladder needs to be accompanied by a few other indicator. Just one example that we’ve turned the corner would be how when mention of the Wests Tigers Centre of Excellence isn’t followed by laughter.

I think that was the saddest thing about Tim Sheens reign.
When he first coached us, it was always imaginative, exciting plays.

Last year, yea it was boring football and we had players that did not have to play boring.

At least if we loose, let it be exciting. I remember us loosing vs broncos 0-18, except every try was 90m. we would run to their line, almost score, drop ball, broncos would run to ours, we defended and they scored. It was a heart attack game and insane. Totally entertaining.

We didn’t have the cattle for it. He tried to play that style to start off the year, but quickly had to abandon it. It was hilarious to watch, cos you could see that style was so far beyond this squad.

looking at the obvious onfield confusion you can only reason that players were getting conflicting messages. I saw Brooks trying to emulate a couple of Benji plays which leads me to think that Benji had a lot of input during 23.

We win at least 50% of our home games.
That would be a real start imo.

@Tucker has pretty high standards. I’ve only ever known him to be comfortable and satisfied with 2 maybe 3 games in the last 5 seasons.

So only 2 or 3% of these games. He won’t even accept a win if it’s jagged, deranged or unsteady.

That he has to sit through say 2 seasons worth to find a single game he thinks we played well in, must be tough.

And he always said that any success would be fleeting and evasive until we were led properly by our officials and management.

That the circus would continue at least until then.

And he said this 5 years ago and it came to pass.

I’d hazard a guess that but for a few notable exceptions that he doesn’t like our squad very much and he’s not currently convinced that Benji is the best coaching option for us for a myriad of reasons.

He can correct me, just my perception of his deliberations for awhile.

Which is not to say we agree on everything, except perhaps the fundamentals. Then all bets are off!

Not looking at ladder position this year although top eight is success in the NRL.

I think Benji needs to have a plan that will align with his player’s abilities.

Sezer is a steady halfback so our game must be based on structure and a low error count.

Our other half will have L plates on so keeping the game simple will be important.

I’d be looking at using the big frames of Naden and Olam to get early go forward, with the aim to turn sides around and give them the ball back deep in their territory, our pack should focus on being a team that looks to intimidate in defence (never really been us).

If we can win some low scoring games I’ll be happy, it’ll indicate we understand who we are, we’re not built to win point scoring shoot outs.
