TEAM LIST Round 2 vs. Raiders

Team List
but he looked good there last season imo
it was just a trial and most people on here wouldnt stop complaining about pole being lock now hes on the bench everyone wants him back at lock its crazy
I'm glad he's getting a crack - reward for effort. He just needs to play more with his head than his heart to be at first grade level. He needs to work the ball because he isn't going to work over the defence. I little bit of variety and he could be OK - let's see how he plays Saturday.

Just as an aside, can you see differences in the way the league boys train compared to the union boys?
Just to clarify that the Rugby teams were The Western Force and the Hurricanes
Not the Wests Pirates
And yes they are trained to be loud, to direct defence and plays

Also, set plays (Line outs and scums) are nothing alike but ruck play and play the ball is similar. Very similar drills are used for this. Rugby boys, forwards are taller and heavier in the tight 5. League boys are much fitter and quicker at the play the ball/ruck area. Union backs much better passing skills
Just a few of many many observations

I have a suspicion Sezer will drop out of the team and Simpkin will come up from reserve grade. Magpies have 3 hookers in the squad with Simpkin, Da silva and Valevatu which is odd.
Sezer out - Simpkin to 14?

I've been thinking about this scenario and probably most likely Simpkin in. Maybe Tallyn. The only other scenario i can see happening is Sezer out for Kepaoa and Api plays 80. Would give us a chance to get on top of their forwards.

When I played rugby schedule was Tuesday night, 8 laps of the oval followed by heavy circuit training then forwards/ backs seperate coaching. ( After that a few schooeys)
Thursday, 4 laps, followed by light circuit training then team training.
Friday, get together at the pub for raffle and few schooeys
Saturday, play then celebrate or commiserate.
Great program, well liked by all. 🤣

Faatape speaks so well when he’s interviewed. I’ve got a feeling he’s going to take his opportunity with both hands and make it very difficult to leave him out of the side.
Galvin and Da Silva maybe young, but it’s clear they are very mature dedicated athletes who work extremely hard and lack nothing in confidence.
You could say the same about Latu Fainu and Heath Mason.
So with all the doom and gloom about Benji being a rookie coach and our team in general not being good enough, we at least have young emerging players who have some X factor about them, others who are still young but now with decent NRL experience and should only be better for their prior experience.
I honestly don’t think we will see Seyfarth, Papali’i or To’a struggle in defence again like they did in the trial against the Dragons, I think that was the perfect wake up call luckily when no competition points were on the line.
Can we score enough points is the big query.
In regards to scoring points I believe Benji selecting Sullivan and Gavin is a step in the right direction.
A recent interview with Nathan Cleary was very good with him stating he believes to be a dominant attacking halve you need to be a genuine running threat, not just someone that steers the team around the park.

Isaiah Papali'i & John Bateman. I think a lot of our early season performance will come down to how these two perform. If they return to close to their best in A & D and out-perform the opposition backrowers, we'll do well.
💯 I could not agree with that statement any more.
It is underestimated how important and influential edge back rowers on the end result.
If they run hard and tackle hard for 80mins it makes the halves job so much easier.
I’ll add we need Bula to increase his involvement and be a constant attacking threat.
If all three of Papali’i, Bateman and Bula are heavily involved and play near their best, we will beat the Raiders.

He didn't play cos he copped a head cut in the 1st Trial. Even Pascoes Barber couldn't stop the bleeding.
Yes, Faataape is a smart kid. We need more of that.

If Sezer doesn't start then first of all we need Sullivan to absolutely kill it and have a fantastic kicking game. His kicking was very poor in the trials. If we kick poorly then we'll be annihilated
