TEAM LIST Round 3 vs. Sharks

Team List
I know its easier said than done but if Benji can just get these bloke to understand what is needed in the game we would be alot more comfortable going into the Sharks game...
What I mean is,play to the gameplan, commit in defense and attack, support your man with the ball and have discipline (no giveaway penalties or 6 agains),errors are costly...
I think we can become competative, but all of the players young and old have to step up and earn their place and paycheque, this is the NRL not backyard footy,,,I have played with and known some very good rugby league players over the years and all of them would have given 300% just for the opportunity to play in the big arena including myself, these guys need to take that opportunity given to them and do their very best....all of them have skills and ability Benji has to get the best out of each of them...
Skill and ability are obviously really important.
But if the player is not strong enough mentally to handle the pressure, all that skill and ability suddenly disappears.

Because you can't do anything without winning the middle first qnd we've never had front rowers capable of doing so.
Even now Utoikamanu is good enough to support a quality pack leader, not to be one. Similar could be said for Pole. Klemmer has regressed and Fainu is still trying to establish himself as a first grader. Outside of that is guys who really shouldn't be playing first grade. Additionally the lack of a quality lock that can play at the line and get our forwards running between opponents rather than into them cannot be underestimated.
Now compare that to every other pack

We won't see the best of any of our players until we can win the middle.
"Even now Utoikamanu is good enough to support a quality pack leader, not to be one" 💯agree gjm87.
If we can't get a quality forward or 2 signed as early as possible this year for next year, to be the forward leader, I reckon we'll lose him.

The boys need to look at their opposing number and have belief they are better. Think to themselves I can smash this bloke, I can run over, step, palm him off and give it to him all game. Have a mission to destroy and outplay their opposing numbers.
They are all allegedly top quality NRL players

I think we will win this week. Stef, Ice & Pole will produce big games. Bula and Galvin will take a heap of confidence from moments from last week and be a handful. Api will cause plenty of headaches around the ruck. Olam has a chip on his shoulder will add a bit of starch out wide. Sounds stupid but I seen small snippets last week to get a good feel about this week. And before anyone asks I am not drunk or taken any substances.

What I have been feeling and saying for a few years now is that we are improving as an organisation and as a team, however everyone else is improving so much faster than us. Every step we take forward, the rest of the competition is taking three.

I just don't think we will ever be able to catch up. This is a lot deeper than one coach, one player etc.

The only use we have is that we have a license in the NRL and especially a Sydney based one, right in the middle. We have a long term supporter base built up due to the foundation clubs and the attacking identiy from '05 to '11. Even that will all dry up, just not sure when.
Jesus mate,, you must be fun at a party ? ☹️🥺

belief is based on trust and evidence. What you describe is blind faith.

Quick question...if the other team tell themselves they are better as well, who wins? draw perhaps?

I was listening to the Silk tails coach half time speech at Lidcombe.

Very basic instructions put in a composed way. You could hear a pin drop.

Once he had finished, it was the boys themselves hoo-haaing and amping up the vocals.

The game was all but over by then,

But they came out and had a great second half.

They were still revving each other up with 2 minutes to go and the game out of reach.

I hope the boys can learn that emotional drive, the psychological lift.

At times, the silk tails backline sent shivers up my spine. I’ll never forget it.

Wes Naiqama??

Answered my own question...

Is that your only experience eavesdropping on a coach?

Which way to go, start the game with the best impact forwards Pole,Fainu and Utoikamanu on the bench and prey the plodders can hold (defend) for 20 minutes I have confidence in Twai but not Klemmer and seyfarth to keep us in the game.
Or
Start with the side selected and if we don’t get on top early we get nothing from Twal and seyfarth when they come on.
Realistically we are at least 2 forwards short of having a competitive pack.

You are not a coach for a reason!

Start your best 13!

The team trained across the road cause Concord Oval was sprayed with chemicals, ground will be closed roughly a week

Common sense prevails... think the changes are as good as we're going to get with what's available. Team does look slightly better with Sezer and Olam in.
They do but jeez the forward pack needs to gp to KFC and eat some big meals..skinny and not making any post contact metres. Need to gain some weight. Wjoever is the conditionong coach should be sacked

Wow, bit of negativity there. Being a wests Tigers is kinda like having blind faith, hoping they can always win regardless of who they play.
Who cares what the other team thinks or tells themselves, I am all about the Tigers!!!

It’s a better year in some respects because we have a lot of new young players to follow and watch develop.

On the proviso, that Benji does his job.

And truth be told and I hope and pray he finds his inner coach this year, because his efforts training the halves last year were dreadful!

But there’s no logic and it’s a bit unfair to judge him so early.

Usually, we are dealing with beloved but essentially spent forces like JTJ or a hack like Brooksy.

Generally I think players used to peak at around 27, but I think it’s getting younger.

It interests me that the team morale is high despite the results.

And I became a member to support all the players first and foremost. Plus the dog joined.

Money well spent as the club builds.

I’m not expecting miracles, just the things many of the posters here are wanting.

Benji played something like 7 times the number of games an average player will play and under many coaches. He’s got to apply that vast knowledge. Big task.
sorry Karen, but I'm gonna disagree on this one. Luke Brooks played the best he had in 5 years under Marshall and Sheens. Wakeham, albeit hopeless in the back end of the year, was a serviceable half for much of the season, which I once again attribute to our coaching staff. Doueihi looked to have turned the corner before his ACL, and we managed to convert Daine Laurie into a threatening on ball 6.

Marshall knows what he's doing, I saw plenty in last week's game to indicate as such. I think we'll improve on last week's performance and build towards a win this week. I'm not saying we'll get the two points, but we will certainly give Cronulla a run for their money.

I was happily reading along and all of a sudden cornflakes everywhere.

You can not be serious? This must be a joke? The fact that Sheens and the coaching staff that included Benji backed Douhie and Lick Bricks to be the saving halves was the number one reason we came last. Did they not watch any games the couple of years previous? And Douhie got another contract too, that we are still paying the price for.
And Diane Laurie was always a 6, our illustrious coaching staff tried and failed to turn him into a FB.
Still luv ya Benji.
When I clean up the cornflakes I probably won’t be reading any more of that post.
