OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

When I compare his debut with Daine Lauries a couple of years ago he comes 2nd
Too many errors and he's is slower than Laurie was . Laurie went downhill from his early days as many at the tigers do ! However is debut was more impressive!
Galvin is green and will probably get better with time .As a Tiger supporter I want results now ! We lost Hastings and Brooks and the performance of our half's in game 1 says we are headed for another spoon .
Sezer is the most experienced so why he comes on for last 15 mins ?
Or is he another of the aging former champs that stop by at Concord for a nice pay check for a year or two on the way to retirement eg Ballin, Matulino ,Packer ?
The other half you call BUD -well he had a shocker ? Don't understand he is young looks fit and remember him having some great games at the Dragons .Whats gone wrong ?

Laurie was 22 and played a large amount of time against men. No comparison really

I saw a good point on another social media platform, Tigers better sort something out for Galvin long term, cause the chooks are probably sniffing around him at the moment, I can see them moving on from Keary, too much injury concerns.

He's 32...
Would be more concerning than Injuries I would think.

Been saying it forever,
Keary, Foran, Hunt, DCE, Reynolds are all Top Tier Halves on the wrong side of 30...
With the Likes of Walker, Townsend, Johnson, Sezer not far behind them....

The exodus of Halves from the game in the next 5 years pales the amount of names coming through....
We'll struggle to hold Galvin - For certain.

Although the chooks have extended Keary till the end of 2025, they'll always try to get a promising talent, and Galvin so far fits that mold.

Hopefully the Tigers hierarchy can work something out, he was a Tigers junior as well.

I cannot believe how easily he's taken to first grade. I'll happily put my hand up and say that I thought he was a chance for State Cup at the beginning of the year, simply because he hadn't played against men up to that point and just needed half a year to get his bearings.

how wrong I was.

two rounds of first grade football as a wiry 18 year old and he hasn't missed a single tackle. that's incredible really. the tries, try assists and linebreaks will come I can promise you, but like when Bula first came into grade, he looks like a 100 gamer already.

the linebreak assist for Olam was textbook Galvin from his schoolboys days where he attracts defenders and is able to perfectly time the pass. his work to square up the pair of Cronulla edge defenders to create space for Bula to score was something that typically takes halves years to perfect. his kicking game and ability to turn teams around is befitting of a halfback that has been around for years.

the sheer ability and confidence this kid has will take him very far. from what I have seen of him in my time monitoring him in the juniors, he is a very quick learner. it's going to be a very exciting watch this season as you see him grow into his role.

Before the doomsayers take control- the Roosters do have Walker & Sandon Smith, so there IS that to take into consideration as well..

I'm not talking in specifics (Roosters or Keary)

Just the amount of Top Line Halves that are winding up in the near future,
With not many names coming in behind them....
I think the Fallout / Domino effect will be the biggest concern as soon as they start to wind up.

I see your point about some of the more established names getting toward the end of their careers.

But just this weekend we saw Sandon Smith, Walker, Galvin, the young 7 at Souths, the 5/8 at the Raiders, Mam, Deardon, Pezet etc all playing. Illias will land somewhere. Dylan Brown is becoming what he was thought he'd be. Not even seen our man Latu yet.

There's quite a lot of young talent emerging.

Most you mentioned already have a full time gig and won’t be replacing anyone…
There’s also teams like the dogs who don’t really have any halves…

**Edit** Dean Hawkins is 25 (Hardly young)

But that's a roster management issue. If clubs like Manly & the Bulldogs put all their eggs in the wrong basket with no succession plan- too bad for them.

That said, Burton is the Bulldogs great white hope & hardly an old man.

Yeah- I mentioned young players that have already emerged into 1st grade level players. I'm not 100% over all the junior talent coming through. But the emergence of these guys in the last year or two suggests in a year or two, there will be more...

Given the quality of the young guys already in 1st grade- we might have the opposite issue- an influx of good young halves.

He is a dead set keeper. We have got to get this one right. His composure reminds me of when Clearly came into grade and I think he is younger. Communicates on the field like a veteran, and his head is always in the game.

Moses is the manager, he is the king of getting good deals I doubt he takes our offer he will encourage Galvin to go to market

If Cherry-Evans is going strong at 35, Hawkins could have 10 years left in him....

It seems Galvin & Benji have a great relationship. If the club can keep it's great rapport with his family, I don't think he'll be going anywhere. We are the family club!

if you were managing Galvin you do due diligence and go to market he will be the hottest property when his contract is up end of 2026
To a certain degree but if your player is happy, has the chance to play long-term with his junior club & mates, has his progress mapped out, has his family included, gets some 3rd party deals, should be happy to take under what Roosters & co are willing to pay. Look at the Panthers up until their salary cap starting to max out with their juniors.

true if we are winning and he is happy it may help us. Moses ripped 3 of the big from us once remember
