Wests Tigers Home Ground Mega Thread

What are you talking about ! There is no wests theirs is no tigers . There is wests tigers ! That is it … everything else is about as relevant as the bears and the Newtown jets .

It'd be nice to have a ground that if we ever do make the finals we could play at.
You couldn't play a semi at either ground at the moment. You'd be locking 25000 people out.

I've been thinking a lot about this idea of the NRL buying the ground and leasing it to WTs... Trying to think whatd be the pros. N. Cons.

To buy is one thing it still needs cash to update as well. Once you own it you need to maintain/insurance etc which are additional costs.

It will need more than 1 update in 20yrs as well so more costs will occur.

Huge investment for maybe 5-6 nrl & wnrl games a year. We know that number won’t increase if it means less games at Cambo.

Would take more than 100yrs to pay back initial investment let alone upgrade etc.

It’s fantasy land even talking about the NRL buying it.

leichardt oval is hosting 120 individual fixtures some of that is women's a league soccer and club rugby however so does not get big crowds but the ground does get used

Penrith is playing 12 home games and gets the upgrades, lucky to be in a swing seat I guess

I’m clearly referring to deep seated issue of constantly referring to wests implying wests magpies . Or tigers implying Balmain tigers .
These people like Colin , and a few other don’t see wests tigers . They see magpies in black and gold .
And openly , as recently as whilst the review was being conducted last year , called for us to become the magpies , and talked about it as a given .
That’s the shit I’m talking about . It’s not the words , but the implication by these individuals of what each word represents .and I’m honestly sick of seeing it …

Well I’m telling you now that’s what I mean . There is no “wests” there is no “tigers” there is wests tigers . And no I’m not being litteral to wording and playing games . I’m talking about both words and what they represent to certain individuals .
And it’s the same dudes on here . It’s so dumb …. If you are 49 years old and younger , you have been supporting the wests tigers longer than either club . And dare I say that’s probably closer to 53-54 .
That’s a fair chunk to the population . I do not understand this type of rhetoric in 2024 .
 
We're extremely lucky to have a bloke like Richo who's above paying any attention to any of the orange v black and white stuff and only cares about making the joint successful.
You all fought and whinged and moaned about the management and now that we have a bloke looking after our best interests a large percentage are still pissing and moaning.
It's silly, but not surprising.
 
I don't see the point of the argument the Leichardt is used for all these other games - in reality those other things could all continue because they don't attract corporates or large crowds - the money isn't for the surface it's for grandstands and facilities for crowds which we only host 5 games a year where that's needed. I love the ground but can understand the government spending money on it. I would like a 30k stadium at Homebush for nrl club games but given that is unlikely then have it at Accor

What for calling the magpies / Balmain bullshit out for what it is ? It’s garbage times 10 that for 99% of us was out to bed 10 years ago when Balmain shat the bed thanks to Backdoor.
The whole point of the forum is to debate topics .
