In the Knock On Effect Cup this weekend .. our Magpies take on the North Sydney Bears containing a few ex Tigers .. Allan Fitzgibbon - super fast winger .. Ben Stevanovic - 5/8 or half .. Rua Ngatikaura - hooker coming off the bench. Also in the Bears side is Matt Stimson and Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

I was disappointed that Allan Fitzgibbon left us .. but insteresting he's he's in the Melb Storm feeder team now .. if he makes first grade with the Storm and then kills it .. i'll be pissed .. lol

Fitzgibbon got released for pretty substantial disciplinary reasons wasn't he

He's contracted to the Bears, Same as he was last year when they were the Roosters 2nd Feeder side.
Has nothing to do with Melbourne....

I thought Storm had 3 feeder clubs this year, North Sydney Bears, Sunshine Coast Falcons and Brisbane Easts.
 
Halves are a total logjam for WTs ,and we need to free some $$ up
No room for off contract Douhi unless he wants to take a haircut to play unproven at 13...but theres no room at the Inn in the halves,and likely no market for him
Sezer also off contract,but certainly there wld be several clubs willing to pay 500k+(double what were paying him)...and thats what hes worth to Titans and Dogs who are desperate for a game managing 7...just like us for the past decade with Brooks wearing that jersey.
We cant afford that,but will be genuinely sorry to see him go..hes doing great,but weve committed our $$ elsewhere
Bud...hmmm..have no idea why we signed him at $500k + for 4 seasons.a .total kneejerk..but how he plays and performs over next fortnite will significantly determine his future either elsewhere or ....we get stuck with him.Personally I fear the worst,but hopefully he proves us wrong.With Latu and Luais signing,and Galvins unexpected rapid ascension,we just dont have room for Bud
maybe we shld get a spotters fee to sell used one owner halves?
Ironic as we didnt have any 6 mnths ago!

They might do,
He was talking on a particular player....

External Feeder Teams do plenty of their own Contracts...

We need to WAIT. Stop and wait for a littlewhile, to round 10 at least.

We don't know where our weaknesses are.
Do we need to replace our wingers? (maybe)?
Do we need another in the backrow (yes, were thin on forward depth)?
Olam seems solid, will Faataape be his long term partner?? It's looking good but lets see.

Olam and Api show that by having top shelf players you raise the squad. Lomax has talent, but he has a bit to sort through, individually brillant but St George isn't winning games off him. Defensively Lomax presents the problems that Staines/Tupou do.

Were also cap heavy in the halves. Cmon we have 5 halves and Luai is coming! Moving Galvin/Fainu to center would be a good way to keep that talent in the squad.

I agree that four years was an overreach. I'll tell you what else is an overreach, though: suggesting we're "f-ed" if Sullivan doesn't play well. As I've said, 500k for a half is peanuts nowadays and it takes a long time for the whole comp to give up on promising young halves. Tyson Gamble is 27, Kyle Flanagan is 25, Drew Hutchison is 28 - all still in or close to first grade despite never having shown much of anything.

The most likely outcome with Sullivan is that he just doesn't play much at all and therefore doesn't get a chance to enhance or reduce his perceived value by much. On this basis, if the Tigers decide he's surplus to requirements at the end of the season every club in the comp will be able to see that it's only because we have a surplus of halves. It's all but inevitable that one of them will think three years at 500k is worth a look based on his potential. Even if we have to pay some freight we'll be talking 100k or so - hardly roster crippling.

I've been hugely against some of the deals the club has given over the years - see what I've said about Nofoaluma or Bateman, for instance. But this one I just don't see hurting us very much, even if it was a misstep.

Agreed, players are going to get injured or suspended, it’s good to have back ups. We didn’t last year and look were it got us. We are in no hurry to offload halves, $500,000 is not as much as it was 5 years ago, probably around $350 on the cap in comparison. Don’t listen to the flogs on 360, Sullivan is young and halves take a while to mature. We don’t really know how Galvins going to go, so let’s just relax.
 
Lot of people making a lot of calls after four rounds of football. Would imagine the people who count would not be thinking any further than round 5. The halves situation will be sorted when it needs to be sorted and that’s not now.

Like everything in the NRL things can change in a flash, but Sullivan will not be moved on anytime soon. We have a 34 year old 7, a kid playing 6 and Latu Fainu with hammy issues and yet to play NRL. We need quality depth and Sullivan provides that. 2025 is light years away
