Well if Benji said he would change the culture of the team and be the guy to build the club around, I doubt 3 years would be convincing. I'd prefer Benji to put his full faith and go all in rather than go half hearted. If he didn't believe in Jarome's abilities, don't sign him at all. After all, a number of halves like DCE, Reynolds, and Hunt have got better as they got olderAs we knew when luai was signed, it was very dumb to sign him for 5 years from 2025.... 3 sure. A lot can change in 12 months....
lol. You're wildly overestimating the number of clubs that are set in the halves. Off the top of my head, the Sharks, Dragons, Bulldogs, Titans, Souths and Knights all have reason not to be totally happy with their starting halves and several others have absolutely no depth. $500k is nothing for a starting half nowadays and wouldn't be a disaster for a backup.
In a world where Drew Hutchison, Matt Burton (as a 5/8), Tyson Gamble, Kyle Flanagan, Dean Hawkins, Lachlan Ilias, Tanah Boyd, the reanimated corpse of Kieran Foran, Jamal Fogarty, Ethan Strange, Braydon Trindall and Blaize Talagi (as a 5/8) are all getting starts, we're not going to struggle to find someone to take a punt on Sullivan.
He will get injured soon I have watched him since he was the hottest kid coming through nearly always misses 4/6 games a yearI was wrong on Olam but not on Sezar... With Juzza I was concerned he was broken, that his body had finally copped enough from the high intensity collisions.he plays with... I thought Melb knew this too sending him to Q cup, but just before the trials I jumped on board everyone else that was positive about him though deep inside. I still had the niging doubt
So many here had written Sezar off, I like all of us had no idea how he wod go... All new recruits are a bit of a gamble but I remained positive with him, wanted to see him have a few runs at least. He's been very good for us lately and no doubt we'll have our tough periods and down time where the team, both players or one or the other all struggle and find it tough, toughest comp in the world and it's hard for these guys to remain at their best... All. We can do is support as much as possible and enjoy these good times - they've been so rare in the recent past
Fulton ok that Bud's $$$$ ?I don’t think the halves dilemma is a big deal
All halves were signed before Luai agreed
Sezer is signed for this year (+ mutual option)
Latu and bud 1st grade abilities were/are unknown at this stage.
So 2025 it will likely be Luai - 7 and galvin - 6 with Latu 14
Sezer the backup in cup on low contract if he wants to stay
OR
Sezer - 7 and Luai -6 with Galvin 14
Latu the backup in cup
Bud to moved on or happy to be 6 in cup
So in real terms tigers only have one excess half depending on what happens to Sezer next year. The bud contract $$ is the other issue
Lomax granted release for 2025, yay or nay boys
& girls? Would walk into the right centre poz but
I'm a bit conflicted personally — good centre pairing
with Olam. Suppose it's a character thing, let's see...
I agree that four years was an overreach. I'll tell you what else is an overreach, though: suggesting we're "f-ed" if Sullivan doesn't play well. As I've said, 500k for a half is peanuts nowadays and it takes a long time for the whole comp to give up on promising young halves. Tyson Gamble is 27, Kyle Flanagan is 25, Drew Hutchison is 28 - all still in or close to first grade despite never having shown much of anything.
lol.
That’s a big possilble over estimation.
In the world of league and business I’m just conservative and always paranoid.
Someone taking a 4 yr contract is going to want a huge discount.
It’s the length more than the money.
Hope you’re right but I doubt it unless he kills it the next two weeks whilst galvin is out.
If he sucks again we’re fffd
He will get injured soon I have watched him since he was the hottest kid coming through nearly always misses 4/6 games a year
Dragons aren't going to contribute anything: they've released him from 2025, which means he's a free agent after this year and the Dragons have no obligations to him. In theory they might kick something in for 2024 but I can't imagine why they would - they have no incentive to do so.On the fence, depending on how much and how long the Dragons will contribute. Really only any sort of priority if WT have no decent goal kicking options.

agree to disagreeI agree that four years was an overreach. I'll tell you what else is an overreach, though: suggesting we're "f-ed" if Sullivan doesn't play well. The most likely outcome with Sullivan is that he just doesn't play much at all and therefore doesn't get a chance to enhance or reduce his perceived value by much. On this basis, if the Tigers decide he's surplus to requirements at the end of the season every club in the comp will be able to see that it's only because we have a surplus of halves. It's all but inevitable that one of them will think three years at 500k is worth a look based on his potential. Even if we have to pay some freight we'll be talking 100k or so - hardly roster crippling.
I've been hugely against some of the deals the club has given over the years - see what I've said about Nofoaluma or Bateman, for instance. But this one I just don't see hurting us very much, even if it was a misstep.
Leaving $800k a year with a guaranteed wing spot and a coastal lifestyle? It seems a bit entitled considering he hasn't established himself as a rep player.Lomax granted release for 2025, yay or nay boys

Nup. I hailed the signing from the get go.I was wrong on Olam but not on Sezar... Wouldn't they have to cover some of the 800k for the next couple of years?Dragons aren't going to contribute anything: they've released him from 2025, which means he's a free agent after this year and the Dragons have no obligations to him. In theory they might kick something in for 2024 but I can't imagine why they would - they have no incentive to do so.
No, Dragons official statement confirms its a mutual agreement to terminate his contract for 2025 / 2026. This means the salary is completely null and void.Wouldn't they have to cover some of the 800k for the next couple of years?
I can't imagine anyone else is going to pay him that, and this is why we were stuck with Nofa. We had to offer him a payout to get him out.
He's also still in his mid 20s. He's not some beaten up 33 year old. Halves don't usually peak until they hit 28 plus. I think we'll have Jarome's best years of his careerWe havent seen that with Api or Olam and of the three including Jerome, hed be the last player Id think would pull that stunt...hes too competitive and with guys like Api, Olam, Galvin, Jonneh Bula & co around him...he wont be slackin off
When the Tigers have a second year contract option in the club's favour, he doesn't have a choiceDo you really think he would take that when there are clubs like the Dragons, Titans and Bulldogs in need of halves?
