Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

True but Benji was part of the team that extended the likes of Naden and Staines
Before Saturday’s game everyone was commenting on the good combo Staines and Naden were building, then Benji moved Naden to the wing. It was a really bad move in hindsight and after one shocker everyone is calling for Naden’s sacking. Why not just put them back in the positions where they were previously performing pretty well?

Possibly a chance to take a long-term view. If our centres are going to be Olam & Turuva next season, it was a chance to see how Naden performs as a left wing.

I guess so, still a dumb move considering they were building something. Worry about next year later in the season and keep the working combos now while we still have a chance at winning a few games. These guys played together at Penrith and were pretty good. Naden is a better centre than winger by a long way.

Naden has always had good performances in him. Just always had plenty of shockers as well. They had 2 ok, not good, games that people were getting overly excited about and were getting carved up before moving Naden to the wing.
I tend to agree Naden is a better centre than winger but I don't rate either of them as good players.

Bennett introduced Nikirima to first grade … and Milford was a sought after player at Canberra when Bennett signed him
With Bennett pretty much done to Souths for 3 years (SMH), me thinks Kodi Nokorimi & Euan Aiken will be 2 off-contract to follow (possibly Averillo with their over-supply of outside backs next season).

So who from Souths could we look at that may not make the Bennett regime?

I feel that Dean Hawkins for be ideal on a T&T/Cup contract to be that leader of our NSW Cup team (since Richo has said this will be a focus) especially if one of Sezer or Sullivan isn't with us next year.

I’m not convinced Turuva was brought here to play in the centres.

He seems a direct replacement for Tupou, and Naden is a better centre than winger.
Naden will not be our NRL centre moving forward, I like watching him when he’s on, but his D is terrible, and in every position he has played and has a brain explosion every second week. Hard to believe he’s got any brain cells left to ignite he’s had so many explosions. We needed him when we got him, but he was always gunna be a stepping stone to a more reliable centre. He should have always been on a short contract and never extended but our roster management is as poor as our on field D.

As someone who has watched Miller in SG and KOE I find his effort is not there. Finds himself being lazy in defence and will lack effort getting to the man. Great ball runner on his day but doesn't play massive minutes. Laulili is where it's at not Miller.
Different players. Miller has displayed the effort your questioning when he was an oversized teen in the younger grades. Some of the HM wins are on the back of Miller putting up huge post contact meters and long minutes. Does that impact his defence, surely but I think your going off too early and on that note a player like Miller may appear physically capable of handling first grade in short stints but to be able to play the way he did in the juniors it would take far more minutes in Flegg and cup to adapt to that standard.

Laullii is a born leader and plays in that fashion. Very Cameron Murray like in the approach to effort.

The more minutes Miller plays the more effort he will be capable of.

Those people are the ones holding onto every breath of positive hope.
If Naden is in our starting team we are in trouble he isn’t NRL quality.

good news … You will be thrilled ..Richo saying he is keeping one of the limited roster spots next year open for Doueihi …
If we get Doueihi tn remain with us for 150 k or even double that, than he will provide value for money and will not be our problem.
Our 2025 squad desperately needs to cut 4-5 players currently signed and replace them with much better options to give us any chance of making the top 8 in 2025.

I wish Kit was Cameron Murray like.
Granted Kit is still very young for a forward and just to be competing at NSW Cup level at his age is to be applauded, but so far has not made much of an impact and it’s largely due the him being too slow across the ground for a shorter style of forward.
Not sure how he can increase his leg speed , but it will be a struggle for him to become an NRL 13 unless his leg speed dramatically improves.
Maybe more suited to prop as he grows and natures.
As for Miller he’s got the attacking side of his game covered, the big if is whether or not he will get himself fit enough to ensure he is not a defensive liability.
Probably more chance of Miller getting fit than there is of Kit getting faster leg speed, time will tell.
