Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Naden has always had good performances in him. Just always had plenty of shockers as well. They had 2 ok, not good, games that people were getting overly excited about and were getting carved up before moving Naden to the wing.
I tend to agree Naden is a better centre than winger but I don't rate either of them as good players.

Those people are the ones holding onto every breath of positive hope.
If Naden is in our starting team we are in trouble he isn’t NRL quality.

good news … You will be thrilled ..Richo saying he is keeping one of the limited roster spots next year open for Doueihi …
If we get Doueihi tn remain with us for 150 k or even double that, than he will provide value for money and will not be our problem.
Our 2025 squad desperately needs to cut 4-5 players currently signed and replace them with much better options to give us any chance of making the top 8 in 2025.

Different players. Miller has displayed the effort your questioning when he was an oversized teen in the younger grades. Some of the HM wins are on the back of Miller putting up huge post contact meters and long minutes. Does that impact his defence, surely but I think your going off too early and on that note a player like Miller may appear physically capable of handling first grade in short stints but to be able to play the way he did in the juniors it would take far more minutes in Flegg and cup to adapt to that standard.

Laullii is a born leader and plays in that fashion. Very Cameron Murray like in the approach to effort.

The more minutes Miller plays the more effort he will be capable of.
I wish Kit was Cameron Murray like.
Granted Kit is still very young for a forward and just to be competing at NSW Cup level at his age is to be applauded, but so far has not made much of an impact and it’s largely due the him being too slow across the ground for a shorter style of forward.
Not sure how he can increase his leg speed , but it will be a struggle for him to become an NRL 13 unless his leg speed dramatically improves.
Maybe more suited to prop as he grows and natures.
As for Miller he’s got the attacking side of his game covered, the big if is whether or not he will get himself fit enough to ensure he is not a defensive liability.
Probably more chance of Miller getting fit than there is of Kit getting faster leg speed, time will tell.

We still need another NRL ready centre in the mix I reckon.
Jake Averillio, Bailey Simonsson and Isaiah Tass all available.
If we really want an attacking threat on our right edge, two players contracted to the Sharks but not getting a look in with their NRL team while at full strength in Kade Dykes and Sam Stonestreet would be ideal for us. Both are prolific try scorers in NSW Cup, both have the big, tall, strong & fast physiques that all teams are looking for in their outside backs, both are athletic and good under the high ball. I actually think Dykes will eventually become a top class fullback or 5/8 but has had his progress stalled by injuries. The Sharks would not be keen to give either of them up, but offer the right contract and funnier things have happened.

Naden will not be our NRL centre moving forward, I like watching him when he’s on, but his D is terrible, and in every position he has played and has a brain explosion every second week. Hard to believe he’s got any brain cells left to ignite he’s had so many explosions. We needed him when we got him, but he was always gunna be a stepping stone to a more reliable centre. He should have always been on a short contract and never extended but our roster management is as poor as our on field D.
If Olam is the other centre and Turuva/Staines are on the wings who do you have in front of Naden?

Putting the cart before the horse …cut the players first and then we’ll see…. Also we might want to take a look at him first when he comes back later this year after being off for 14 months before we sign him?

Nofo has been released from his Salford contract
It’s really quite odd the way he went from a much loved player who gave his all to a seemingly disinterested player who lacked effort, enthusiasm and motivation
I blame Lee with that crazy contract, it was all downhill from that point
.... and now this, Salford letting him go
I seriously hope he’s okay, something is not right

Turuva not good enough defensively to play centre, blind Freddy can see that.
Let Turuva and Bula battle it out for the fullback spot and the one who misses out to play on the wing.
Unless we see a dramatic improvement, than Naden has to go and the jury is still out on Staines & To’a also.
Still some good talent that can be recruited to play centre & wing for us if we have a look and act fast.
We also need an extra genuine NRL quality edge forward and a genuine NRL quality middle forward, it’s a harder task finding then at the moment and that’s just if we retain Stef as we will need more than one middle if he departs.

No successful teams cut the players first, they sign the new players then work out who they are offloading.

If another club is happy to pay more then credit to him - unfortunately I doubt anyone would take that risk at this current moment.

I think it’s a fair deal it’s a 1 year contract. He has the ability to showcase whether or not he’s worth more and get his market value up the following year. If he comes back both this (good coin) and next year and plays good football following 2025 who’s to say he can’t command 600-700k at another club.
It's the right base. But they could meet a bit closer in the middle and add some incentives to his contract next year based on how many 1st grade games he plays. So maybe he could earn up to $350k.

If he is still adamant about playing in the halves, he needs to move on.

I’m not sure what you’re watching. the only reason he does struggle occasionally defensively is down to conditioning. when he runs out of gas that’s when the issues arise, but with improved conditioning it won’t be an issue.

he made 25 tackles last week with 2 ineffective. yes Sharpe made a break on his inside, but again that’s down to conditioning. his workrate on both sides of the ball is immense for a man of his size.
He's still just a kid, I know props are starting in grade earlier these days but the top props are still veteran campaigners who are more developed physically and have developed all areas of their game, short passing games, quick feet, off-loading etc...
I'm usually sceptical of kids his size being able to make the jump to play against men, but so far the signs look good.
