Driver Beware:

It’s the same with wearing helmets on bikes; who bears the brunt of the costs induced to the public healthcare and social security when things go wrong? Food for thought, perhaps if you weren’t wearing a seatbelt and now you’re a paraplegic or brain damaged you can incur the health care expense out of pocket.
It's not the law itself thats the problem....it's the cameras everywhere. The fact the government knows if I have overseas bank accounts. New digital IDs etc.

We are surveilled to a huge degree compared to 20 years ago.

All of it to raise more revenue so they can waste our money as they see fit.

Imo not your best response L.
Why wouldn’t everyone just use a seatbelt, or do you see seatbelts, phones, food and anything else being policed as an infringement on human rights whilst being in control of a lethal weapon.
I for one say good move, and a definite life saver in certain situations, unless you’re driving at 160 in a 100 zone, then nothing much will tend to save you.
There is already a law to wear seatbelts. Why do we need the government's cameras in our cars?

Are you that eager to give up your privacy?

Next they'll want cameras in your house to make sure you don't beat your wife, or yell at your kids or ensure you are not committing crimes. Hey...what's wrong with that if you're abiding by the law right?

I've had this issue with you before interpreting your posts.
I'm guessing your joking here /. Sarcasm?

Fair enough.

As an example I rarely touch my phone whilst driving for obvious reasons. Got done with having my phone on my lap with a hidden camera. I dont even know why I was holding it. 5 points and $350 later and you can safely say I’ve never done that again.

I think the system motivates the majority of the population to avoid risky behavior.

I don’t disagree with the dilemma society has with government and big business spying on people. Throw in AI and I’m a little concerned for our future.

I have a fundamental issue with the government's solution to "risky" behaviour. It's always punishment and fines.

You'd think the money they spent on all these cameras could go into technology to ensure you can't hold your phone in the first place. Work with telcos, tech companies, be innovative...don't just slug people half their weekly salary for a relatively minor infraction.

For a supposedly free country, we aren't very free. The government has slowly encroached on every aspect of our lives.

No one voted for this stuff....that's the scary part.
Thats because idiots need to be told to wear a seatbelt and a bike helmet. Im actually all for those people not wearing seatbelts and bike helmets. Cull the morons out of society.

The argument has been made that if you have nothing to hide, then why worry what the government knows about you.

That last paragraph is being sarcastic and exaggerating to illustrate a point...how far are we willing to let the government into our lives despite being model citizens.

Sorry if you were offended by my post or the way I say things.

Same as cars. Build them so they can only go 120km tops

It's the logical endpoint of your argument. What's the problem with the government surveilling your bathroom to make sure nothing illegal is going on? "If you've done nothing wrong you've got nothing to hide"

Not offended, confused...when half is serious and half is sarcasm, thanks for the clarification
