Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It's all in the word "compensation".

The club must still pay the player if they are stood down. They are the current rules.

The compensation part is in the cap.

Yep, and I have no issue with them receiving compensation. That being said, a blanket stand down policy like is currently in place is stupid. It should be judged on a case by case basis

I could well be but I think we need to aim higher UNLESS we, as you said, can land them on NSW Cup or perhaps T&T deals.

We need a little bit more NRL experience to balance out our roster and provide leadership & direction. But I do see your point we need more experience in NSW Cup too if we can recruit a few over to lead our guys and are willing to play down (Ron Massey) when the need arises.
When we aim highl we often shoot blanks.
Nothing wrong with bringing in 5-6 lower priced recruits who have been standing out in NSW Cup or Qld Cup to see how they go and as I say they would significantly improve our NSW Cup at the very worst.
After all we have had next to nobody standing out in our own NSW Cup team.

Webster-Mansfield is a much better player than the others on that list, although Srevanovic goes ok too and would be a better option than who we currently have playing in the halves for our NSW Cup team.
What does Keoaoa do better than Webster-Mansfield ? I’ll answer “nothing”

AJ may be a poor first grader but Webster-Mansfield hasn't even stood out in reserves aside from 1 or 2 games. We let him go to free up a top 30 spot. Hopefully we can do the same with Tumeth next year.

This thread sinks lower and lower every day. Now we think a 27 year old reserve grade fullback with zero NRL games is better than Bula.

There is a reason why these guys are in NSW Cup.

I saw a Facebook post today suggesting we should have Jimmy Ngutlik (who is currently playing 2 grades below NSW Cup) on the wing in first grade.

There is desperation and hysterics everywhere at the moment.

Trai Fuller and Cody Walker ring a bell ?

Api, Luai, Turuva, Olam? Is that what you define as shooting blanks? Jeez...you're a hard marker.

Yep, let’s sign Matt Doorey and Jake Toby. We’ll send shivers through the entire NRL.
So they don’t improve our top 30 ?
For players who would only be on the bare minimum contracts, they would both add valuable depth and genuine competition for NRL positions, something we don’t currently have.
I will say it again in case you didn’t hear the first time, any decent NRL team needs genuine competition for NRL positions and when injuries occur, need to be promoting players that are dominating at NSW Cuo level, not just throwing anybody in the side to make up the numbers.

If the tigers are really looking for some speed at the back and a player who could play , fullback , winger , and centre, look no further than David Armstrong from the knights , the bloke has a ton of talent and is of contract , the knights have signed Schiller so they don’t have much room left
How big is he ?
