Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If not allowing the player in question to play, what is the alternative? If the club doesn't have to pay the player being stood down, who does? Or are you suggesting a player should lose their income based solely on an allegation?
It's all in the word "compensation".

The club must still pay the player if they are stood down. They are the current rules.

The compensation part is in the cap.

If the tigers are really looking for some speed at the back and a player who could play , fullback , winger , and centre, look no further than David Armstrong from the knights , the bloke has a ton of talent and is of contract , the knights have signed Schiller so they don’t have much room left

Armstrong is a wing / centre and only a late call up as they have another kid "fullback" Sharpe... As he was only just returning back from injury.

Does anyone know why we released Brandon Webster-Mansfield while he was contracted to us for 2024 ?
He’s big enough to be a tackle busting second rower, fast enough to play in the centres as he is doing for Souths NSW Cup team now, these types of players are valuable and don’t grow on trees.
Baffling how we decide to keep players such as Kepaoa over local juniors with plenty of potential to become regular NRL players such as Webster-Mansfield.

He went from Wests to St George but couldn't get a start so moved to Souths. Like Ogden, Rua, Stevanovic, Dillon, Scolari, Tuifua and the rest of that undefeated jersey flegg team, he'll never make the transition to firsts.

Webster-Mansfield is a much better player than the others on that list, although Srevanovic goes ok too and would be a better option than who we currently have playing in the halves for our NSW Cup team.
What does Keoaoa do better than Webster-Mansfield ? I’ll answer “nothing”

Armstrong has been playing fullback and heavily contributing in his teams wins.
He’s much quicker and has more X factor than what we currently have.
Jake Toby currently at the Bears is probably better again, another one that has been stuck in reserve grade and regularly being the standout player for his whole career, not getting an NRL opportunity.
He would make the same or better impact as Trai Fuller has if he was given an opportunity.

So if we can see these players with promise why are we sign the crap that we have , nsw cup side winning 30-20 with 15 minutes to go and get done 50-30 , for god sake start bring in some real talent

I remember Jake Toby scoring 4 tries against us a couple of years ago can't understand why he's still in reggies.

💯 he would be an instant sensation playing NRL even as a 27y.o rookie.
No doubt we could sign him on a 2nd tier contract tomorrow if we were willing to give him a chance.
Plenty of others in a similar situation who constantly dominate when playing NSW Cuo or Qld Cup and would jump at any glimmer of hope in getting more regular NRL game time and by signing these types of players there is nothing to lose as if we have a look at them and decide they are not good enough for our NRL side, they would still dramatically improve our NSW Cup side.
Why we just sit back and watch the bleeding get worse and take no action is ridiculous.

I think fullback is his position & we've invested in Bula/Turuva/Mason for fullback. Unfortunately he doesn't have the size we need on the wing or centre.

That remains to be seen, but I’m very confident you would be wrong.
I could well be but I think we need to aim higher UNLESS we, as you said, can land them on NSW Cup or perhaps T&T deals.

We need a little bit more NRL experience to balance out our roster and provide leadership & direction. But I do see your point we need more experience in NSW Cup too if we can recruit a few over to lead our guys and are willing to play down (Ron Massey) when the need arises.
