OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Not sure anyone else is “behind it all” other than the player himself ..not everything is a conspiracy..

The Tele report mentions Roosters and Panthers would have intereat if he is released , but also says

Galvin has told friends he isn’t unhappy at Concord but feels his development could accelerate at another club …

It’s up to Benji and Richo to convince him otherwise ..
What a load of crap....7 weeks ago he said how glad and lucky he is to be coached by a Golden Boot 5/8 winner in Benji...grow some gonads Galvin!.

Who would you rather be coached by … Benji or literally any other first grade coach …perhaps apart from the interims at Parra and Souths .,?

It's a good move by Richo to offer the new deal. We get to see where his heart really is. If he doesn't sign then he can go back to SG Ball for the next 2 years.

Yep unless they give us Teddy back.

I get that he would be 32 but he has 2-3 years left in him with the way he is playing. Adds experience to the team and had a nice little thing going with Luai in origin.

An experienced spine with Teddy, Api & Luai + youth in L. Fainu helping blood him in.

Teddy would eventually play a role with Bula or Bigg, whoever the club prioritises.

Bula to wing, similar project to Mini/RTS all those years back.

The club really have to play their cards right here.

It's about money - currently he is signed for 3 years on a good deal financially for us, he wants a release to sign a new deal reflecting his nrl future star status. We hold the cards because we can pay him more for the next 2.5 yrs or not but no one else can - for that we meet part way and pay him more but in return we get to extend out another year or 2 at the new rate.
And you know it's 100% coming from the manager, because every step of this mini saga is being leaked to the media, so they are getting regular updates from his management.

I’d be surprised if Moses and his parents aren’t on the same page. My question is if Moses hates the club so much, why negotiate the current contract in the first place?

The problem I see with now with Richo now beating his chest about Galvin being contracted, you cant on one hand say the player is under contract and we wont be releasing him while on the other hand shop players around that are on contract and completely contradict what you are saying re loyalty and fulfilling your contractual agreement.

We as a club always leave ourselves open for being criticised by the media. And a lot of our fans have the same train of thought. You cant have your cake and eat it too and then wonder why we are up sh!t creek on a daily basis.

And if its true that Galvin has been playing with a fractured hand that's poor form on the clubs part. You cant expect a young kid to be happy that he is forced to play while other players injured and another kid the same age, in the same position on half a million a year is continually sitting out due to an injury.

Its not any of the players faults but the WT administration (past and present) because we have no depth WHATSOEVER, All the kids we keep spruiking about coming through are not setting the world on fire in NSW Cup (I think the team is coming last), if we end up rushing them through too, injuries will be bound to follow.

Exactly. It’s all speculation. If every player was stood down with any injury you’d need 50 in the squad.
You're fair dinkum rite Tiger-ferret. The kids of today are as weak as pi**.
He's obviously never heard of the great John Sattler playing with a fractured cheek bone from the very 1st tackle in the game.
Or the even greater Robbie Farah playing with a broken leg.
Now these are Real Men, right?
But seriously, I reckon Galvin should NOT be playing with a fractured hand if he has had x-rays that show the fracture is serious enough for him not to play, simple.
Give the kid a chance, a rest of a few weeks or however long it takes for the fracture to heal, is not going to make any difference to where we finish in this year's comp, 17th Imo.

Agreed, he sounds like a real piece of work! We gave him his chance and now he wants to cash in. To early as u have written he’s to slow and next season more teams will rifle him out, I certainly wouldn’t upgrade him yet. Especially with his attitude. Richo don’t buckle to the Moses crap, he’s what played 2-3 good games. Hope everyone boos him this week against the tits. Guys a scumbag.
Yea I am kinda here.

We need a halfback. We need a forward pack. I reckon we need a good center too.
We don't 'need' Galvin.

Sure, the guy seems to perform. But if we are having these troubles now, how will he be if he is asked to go Center or Hooker to fit Large or other talent into the team?

Now fair cop. You are starting your footy career playing injured. Benji should not be forcing junior people to do this. I respect the objection and we have seen players ruined by this behaviour. Was it Delaney who can't walk anymore due to the sea eagles doing this kind of thing?

Happy to punt Galvin if he is a Moses Showpony. That said lets stop being stupid like loosing winable games and playing youngsters injured.

What I don’t get is why would a player request a release without another club lined up? It is very risky. The rules mean jack.
The injury then becomes a part of it.

Were playing him injured. A fracture expanded could really harm his hand and ruin his career.

While I think it is usual Moses showboating and we should just not sign any player with him (yes anyone, even if it's DCE/Cleary). ...
Kid wants a NRL future.

Galvin asking for a release without a contract, makes me think this is "injury related" then "money". Naturally don't trust Moses, but giving the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Totally agree with you. Only issue there needs to be balance with how our club manages these young kids, currently Sullivan has a broken finger he is out for 4 weeks. I couldn't blame a young kid who when both are fit it would be Galvin chosen before Sullivan but one is getting paid three times the amount $$$ wise, hurts his finger is out for 4 weeks, while the lesser paid player with a busted hand is expected to play.

We need to remember Sullivan was a Benji appointed player.

Biggest issue is our Top 30 for next year over 10 players are very young, its mismanagement not having the depth. I think the best thing the club could do is sack the coaching staff, appoint Brad Arthur that can coach and has a proven record in rebuilding a team and have him solely in charge of recruitment. Only a coach like Arthur could attract the players we need and have the confidence of the players to start a proper rebuild of our club.

Have a look at whats happening at Dragons, Flanno has already started the rebuild and their fans aren't waiting a 5, 10 or 15 year plan for it to happen! Fcuk its frustrating !!!!

Why are 90% of players not putting in?

Luke 90% is it overly large amount I know probably should’ve corrected myself and said 70% ,-there are a group of players putting in every week but the majority are not the results speak to themselves
Mate if his heart isn’t in the joint, why keep him….dont you want players that actually want to be here and put in for the club…FFS 10 weeks ago Galvin was quoted as wanting to form a Dynasty within the club and the young guys coming through….first bad trot he experiences and he wants out…. Go I say and don’t let the door hit you on the way out son….

It’s contract related nothing else. Clubs target good players from weaker clubs and agents get paid. Better club more cash. It’s why contracts are put in place and why the club has to stand its ground for good.

Bad take he’s a good young player and we need to enforce contract and use leverage to extend the kid. If you keep letting players go it becomes a trend. We know this movie it’s been done to us many times before.

Agree. If we are ever going to get off the bottom we need to make the best decision for us and that’s keeping our best players.

Richo and co have all said we are going to develop and grow via the pathways. The 1st real kid to make it comes through and we let them go - sets a big example for many others about to make the jump up.

We must hold firm on Galvin and keep him around for at least his contract.

It is called character mate.. taking responsibility,.. Jesus he is being paid well at the same time , it’s not out of the goodness of his heart FFS
Totally agree 👌Just says how hot and cold he blows - close to the beginning of the season,he was talking to all the young junior's coming through the system- saying the future of this club is with us junior’s and we’ve got the makings of a great team, please stay.!!LOL.
