Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Maybe, but let’s be real - it’s bloody tough to do especially this day and age. He isn’t like a normal 18yr old. He has managers, sponsors, family, coaches, players, mates (most will have egos as well) etc around him.

An 18yr kid who has been a step above and told most his life he is better than most , then gets the keys to a team & shines. Gets anything he wants. Add to this Robbie and Benji his coaches. Media beat up etc. Playing a very physical game where ego is a major part of it. The kid ego wise was on a hiding to nothing. And this is without really getting into the party scene that will eventually happen over the next few years as he gets more cash.

Hopefully he will get a very big lesson from this on how he treats his teammates, club and supporters. Because he hasn’t handle this well - doubt he cares about it now but sooner or later it will hit him.

Lets hope Richo steps in and learns from this as well to ensure we focus abit of effort around education and development of the kids coming through.
The problem is, these things blow over very quickly. Just like when Ivan Cleary broke his contract with us. He copped it from everywhere when the story first broke and was portrayed as a person who low principles. Six month later most people had totally moved on, and not much longer he is seen as a super coach.

The same will apply to Galvin, all the people who are bagging him in the press for his repeated cry’s for a release will move on to the next drama that presents itself, and all will be forgotten when he is at his next club. I guess similar to Moses Woods and Teddy

Using Galvin and Bula as trade bait, this team could be achievable for 2025.
Much more experienced and looks a genuine top 8 team to me.

  1. James Tedesco / Heath Mason
  2. Samuel Stonestreet / Charlie Staines
  3. Taylan May / Starford To’a
  4. Justin Olam / Onitoni Large
  5. Sunia Turuva / Heamasi Makasini
  6. Jerome Luai
  7. Jayden Sullivan
  8. Stefano Utoikamanu / Peter Hola
  9. Api Korisau / Talyn Da Silva
  10. David Klemmer / Tim Johanssen
  11. Samuela Fainu / Billy Burns
  12. Angus Crichton
  13. Brandon Smith
  14. Latu Fainu / Adam Doueihi
  15. Fonua Pole / Alex Seyfarth
  16. Alex Twal / Sione Fainu
  17. Royce Hunt / Jordan Miller
Development Contracts
Kit Laulilli
Chris Faagatu
Luke Laulilli
Tony Sukkar
Solomon Saukuru
Zac Clarke

** You would think Stef would be much more keen to stay playing in this type of team and it’s clear the Roosters don’t want Teddy past 2025. I know he’s ageing and slowing down, but I still think his presence would be of great benefit and in addition Luai would be a magnet to help sign others such as Angus Crichton and Royce Hunt etc
I think the Roosters would be very tempted to release Teddy early in return for Bula and Galvin.
Tedesco, really? It would be just like us to buy another veteran after he’s played all his best years at the Roosters, though I’m hoping these kinds of signings will stop with Richo.

Happened at the Bulldogs and they are coming out the other side in good shape.
Yes but they actually bought some top line players. Started building with JAC, Kikau, Mahoney, Tetevano, Burton, Xerri and Knight. The Crichton signing tipped them over the edge. Where are we going to get players like that? England?

Wow did he really say that? Not that we would want him back, but what an ungrateful prick seeing we stood by him through all his early years with injury etc.
Yep, I watched him coming through, I remember when they swapped him and nofo at FB for a few weeks, but it was evident Teddy was the gun, and return to FB. He is probably the last junior I’ve watched hoping he’d be the next Tiger legend, now, like Galvin, I just don’t trust them to care about the Tigers interest, they are just in it for the money and whatever they can get while here and then off to the next club bcoz the next club will pay the money I want today.

If I'm Richo I would be chasing Angus Crichton hard with a 4 year deal like he wants as we need more experienced guys in the team then youngsters. Get them guys in and start winning and the juniors will stay see a future here.
We need more then Angus of course but he would be a big name to make a statement.

I would also make Galvin stay regardless until end of contract to prove a point and even play in reserves if we don't need him. I hope either Galvin or the club come out and update everyone on the outcome of this so we can all move on and shut the media up

Better than Buzz.

I’m pleased to learn a few things are going on behind the scenes. Better than recent years.

Shame Nado couldn’t knuckle down, but he’s not the only one.

Lees whinging on about Richo recently.

Look Lee, you had your shot, you gave us two spoons and set us up for another one, perhaps a 4th…
Lee who?

I don't understand your surprise Flip. Everybody knows Teddy was born and raised on the golden sands of Bondi beach. In fact it was only the extra development put into him by the Roosters that pried him away from life as a Bondi Lifeguard from which Waverley Council still hasn't recovered.

I know must on here think Nathan brown is not a good player , but he would have been a great 13 for us , manly have resigned him for 2more years , this is way we are in this position, we had the chance to sign him but as usual we passed
Agree. We need to sign some average players who can play for 24 games a year. This will make our “stars” jobs easier and assist the young kids. The problem is, we need to pay these average players above average wages to get them here.

Who signed Bud? No criticism just can’t recall
We didn’t have JL at that time, the market was shocking and as we know, last years halves really struggled.

It was a calculated risk of sorts, along the lines that the club coaching staff could bring him up to a consistent fair level.

I think we’ve bought a more than a few players on the basis we could somehow renovate them and charge them up, but we haven’t been able to do so.

And in my book, it inevitably leads back to the board and senior club officials and their ignorance.

Not just signing off on players, but not knowing enough about the game to be able to question their advisors effectively.

So new ( competent) management and the culling has commenced in earnest.

It’s all being done with Benji and his coaching staff behind the scenes.

Richo says Benji is in command publically, but I think Richo is all over him politically and in a contest, Benji will do what he’s told.

Especially now where Benji is failing ( for whatever reason). The more games he loses, the less influence he will have.

Just my thoughts.

I would prefer a more experienced coach to guide us through, but if Benji succeeds I’m happy with that of course!
