Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Wow did he really say that? Not that we would want him back, but what an ungrateful prick seeing we stood by him through all his early years with injury etc.
I don't understand your surprise Flip. Everybody knows Teddy was born and raised on the golden sands of Bondi beach. In fact it was only the extra development put into him by the Roosters that pried him away from life as a Bondi Lifeguard from which Waverley Council still hasn't recovered.

I know must on here think Nathan brown is not a good player , but he would have been a great 13 for us , manly have resigned him for 2more years , this is way we are in this position, we had the chance to sign him but as usual we passed
Agree. We need to sign some average players who can play for 24 games a year. This will make our “stars” jobs easier and assist the young kids. The problem is, we need to pay these average players above average wages to get them here.

Who signed Bud? No criticism just can’t recall
We didn’t have JL at that time, the market was shocking and as we know, last years halves really struggled.

It was a calculated risk of sorts, along the lines that the club coaching staff could bring him up to a consistent fair level.

I think we’ve bought a more than a few players on the basis we could somehow renovate them and charge them up, but we haven’t been able to do so.

And in my book, it inevitably leads back to the board and senior club officials and their ignorance.

Not just signing off on players, but not knowing enough about the game to be able to question their advisors effectively.

So new ( competent) management and the culling has commenced in earnest.

It’s all being done with Benji and his coaching staff behind the scenes.

Richo says Benji is in command publically, but I think Richo is all over him politically and in a contest, Benji will do what he’s told.

Especially now where Benji is failing ( for whatever reason). The more games he loses, the less influence he will have.

Just my thoughts.

I would prefer a more experienced coach to guide us through, but if Benji succeeds I’m happy with that of course!

Good question.
Yeah. It exists here so that the cap is managed well amongst the NRL and I assume they only have jurisdiction here. Given the cap in the UK is only 2.1m pounds, it doesn't make sense for an equivalent cap impact.

I assume that the players are released from the NRL contract and sign with the new UK team. So we would burn cash, but not cap.

How many GF’s has he won in how many years at the easiest coaching position on the planet?
I just love the way he tries hard to make the coaching and so called “system” sound so technical, as to liken it to a feature of an advanced civilisation, while trying to dumb it down to anyone who cares to listen.

If I'm Richo I would be chasing Angus Crichton hard with a 4 year deal like he wants as we need more experienced guys in the team then youngsters. Get them guys in and start winning and the juniors will stay see a future here.
We need more then Angus of course but he would be a big name to make a statement.

I would also make Galvin stay regardless until end of contract to prove a point and even play in reserves if we don't need him. I hope either Galvin or the club come out and update everyone on the outcome of this so we can all move on and shut the media up
I’m in two minds about Angus Crichton. He’s been a great player for most of his career, no doubt, but I also feel he’s not that far away from being a has been. Would’ve been a great signing 3 or 4 years ago, don’t know about now.

You're allowed to, but when off season training starts roughly November that's when a club needs to be salary cap compliant, that's how Gus works buy everyone first then just before November cut player's
Sort of, you're allowed to sign players but you're not actually allowed to register their contracts if it puts you over the cap, or have more than 30 in your top 30.
