Jordan Miller is only 18....So much for all our up and coming "stars" not one made the U19 SOO teams....not a single player...disappointing

I juniors are grossly overhyped however Miller would not have been considered for selection due to being active in our NRL side. Same as Galvin and Da Silva last year.

You realise that the U19 SOO team is selected after NRL teams right? All of our brighter juniors played NRL for us last week so were therefore ineligible to be selected.

Fair enough, though I think there can be exceptions for certain injuries that will heal regardless for seasoned players or defining matches.

I read on this forum both Bellamy and Bennett had chased him more than once. They see what our club saw in him, a very fine footballer with very good skills who does need conditioning.

Would love to see him at 115kg, not 131. Hopefully a decent pre-season will sort him.

He is closer to 120 atm than 131. 131 is what he came to pre season weighing and has said he lost 7 - 8 kg since.

I think folks are missing the point here.
When it comes to signing players he favours QLD players.
Looking at both u/19 SoO allegiances, Storm have 3 QLDers and no Blues?

Yeah, nice game to have on your resume, but each one of the half or more of them that played will never see cup level, let alone NRL, would almost certainly give it up for a single shot at the top.

Weight is an issue long term for him but I hope that his input into first grade will get his head more in the game. I was told by Galvin earlier this year that he had leg issues last year, I think that led to the weight gain. I think he’s heaps better than the two last nite. Look back at the game last week, it was the little things he was doing right. He looks to offload turns in the tackle and is thinking ahead he’s no dumb forward!

Raiders are doing ok - they had 3 of their own in the NSW u19 SoO last night and just picked up another 3 of their NSW team members in Sanders, Martin and Tamale.

They seem to be able to cherry pick who they want and get them to Canberra OK. All silent behind the scenes manoeuvring.
We seem to be our own worst enemy giving them glossy assessments [that the parents and managers read, thus creating headaches IMO], of retaining the few only 16-17 players in question.
Then up goes their asking price/time frame to retain them and negative media comments if the leave. "Shooting yourself in the foot" comes to mind.
Maybe it's just this forum; bored/frustrated/blame game with our NRL results grasping for hope that we can turn it all around the future from within?

If you remember, he was offered a contract at 150k to stay on. He may have signed that for one year to prove himself next year (due to all the points you've correctly raised) in the hope of an upgrade or a better contract at another club. Jack Bird was in a similar position.

I'd rather have Doueihi, even for depth at 150k, than someone who is unlikely to get selected if injuries hit.

I'd put it down to a salary cap decision for us and an opportunity for Douehi to show that his injuries are past him. At 150k, it doesn't matter if he plays cup all next season because it barely impacts our cap, but provides good depth. I don't mind it.

Rueben Porter interview on WT website- he seems like a very likeable and bright young man. Hope he can keep up his effort and hold his place in the team.

Younger than us maybe but he'll be 28 next year.

Has always been good in nsw cup for every team he's played in, has just had pathways blocked. Currently he'd be ahead of most off contract players that we want to re-sign.

A player that is a known poor defender and poor tackler.
Is basically a half along with Sezer, Galvin, Sullivan, Luai, Fainu and others.

Guys not physically tough enough for a lock. Guy never expressed an interest in playing as a Center or wing, and doesn't have the tackling to do so.

I would actually tell Doueihi $250, but he is now reserve grade / outside the top 30.
Punt Doueihi, Punt Sullivan and stick with Galvin/Fainu/Luai as halves with Sezer as backup.

Played for Oberon Tigers in the group ten comp before heading to Canberra. 851..why didn’t he link up with Lithgow Workies or Shamrocks, it would have been a closer commute

Unfortunately he is not extending otherwise he would have sighed already.
We offered him a very good deal IMO but I'm sure Richo has plans.

Large has never really stood out by trampling kids, I don't think he is that big for his age, not in the Makasini mould. Speed, yes, that's clearly evident in his highlights, but that is the one trait that does translate really well from juniors to open age.

I don't know, everything I've seen shows Large getting on the outside kids and swatting them off. I suppose trampling perhaps isn't the best word, but rather brushing kids away as we winds up.

I was contrasting to the style of guys like Walsh, Paps, classic Benji or that new Storm kid Faalogo, who are explosive and natural steppers over short-distance - they are the ones I feel who translate easiest to first grade, then it just depends on their long-term toughness.
