Looks like the club has jumped the gun and re-signed Doueihi. Very disappointing.

We just give out contacts wily nily to everyone. He has not earned his extension. He's played one game, 60 mins in Cup. How on earth could we make the decision to sign him given he has no defined position in first grade, and hasn't proven his body can withstand the rigours of first grade after 3 ACLs.

Very disappointing, i thought the culture of the club was supposed to eb changing. Still jobs for the boys though it seems.

If you remember, he was offered a contract at 150k to stay on. He may have signed that for one year to prove himself next year (due to all the points you've correctly raised) in the hope of an upgrade or a better contract at another club. Jack Bird was in a similar position.

I'd rather have Doueihi, even for depth at 150k, than someone who is unlikely to get selected if injuries hit.

I'd put it down to a salary cap decision for us and an opportunity for Douehi to show that his injuries are past him. At 150k, it doesn't matter if he plays cup all next season because it barely impacts our cap, but provides good depth. I don't mind it.

Kapow was great in his hey day but for some reason he has petered out, he’s been average for a while and he’s just trying to make as much money out of football before he has to find a job. No thanks we need better or younger.

Marty Taupau, I wouldn't say yes, I wouldn't say no.
I am sure he will go overseas on 1m or something crazy. But if he came here on 400k it could be a very useful option. He is an impact prop and I think we need a running prop. Were loosing Bateman and Paps....

If we can't find anyone better I wouldn't say no to Taupau at a good price.

He has no impact any more , he is passed it , it would be 2 years of dead money. UK for Marty , he was fantastic for a long time

I like how the solution to signing has beens is always to sign another. As long as the money is low, it could always be a really good move. It never is though.

Been banging the Mata'utia drum for a couple of weeks. He's the right kind of athlete outwide, plus covers that 2nd row/centre role & his defence is Olam-like, giving attacking players a moments pause..

iirc he had concussion issues when at the Knights

That is true and at age 27 he could be the late bloomer we need to fill a position we are struggling with.

This isn’t mail this is more personal thinking but out of all the players at Brisbane. I’d prefer us to have a crack at Israel Leota instead who’s also off contract come November 1st.

Watching Israel Leota closely last night in the u/19’s SOO he had a shocker which can happen to the best of players, so shouldn’t be writing him off after one game and he’s clearly a physical specimen that is worth developing, but he looks to be one that will take a bit of time to fine tune his game, eliminate his mistakes and get some better IQ on his positional play.
The two big props from NSW were both very impressive, I hope I’m wrong but both look far superior th Miller at this stage.
Blues fullback Chevy Stewart a huge standout and deserved MOM with his high energy, constant presence and elite speed.
Centre Casey Maclean just the-signed with the Panthers looks a Stephen Crichton clone, another one off the production line for them.

Juicing up players for more than a match, particularly those on the younger side at this stage of the season, is just plain wrong.

I think that they shouldn’t be allowed to needle for a pre-existing injury
