TEAM LIST Round 17 vs. Roosters

Team List
Matamua getting another run?
Surely someone else is knocking on the door….
He’s had a gifted start to his career. Hasn’t done much wrong but it would be great to have a lock that has some positive effect on the game.

I find the role Matamua is playing to be interesting. On for the first & last 20, and used as a link man in passing movements. Benji obviously has a plan for that role- just not 100% sure EXACTLY what it is.

For the detractors- he was part of the last 2 wins...so there is that.

Our wingers have been poor generally for most of the season & do not match up well.

Funnily enough (I guess) I don't think the wingers have been on the receiving end of a hammering yet.

To combat the kicking contest mismatch, our line speed in defence has to be on when it comes to Walker & Keary. Galvin & Sezar might have a bigger role in that than is discussed as both jam the line in defence.

We just have to compete in the middle & make sure the Roosters are not camped on our line in attack. Stopping Cheese is key. We have to be on at marker.

If there forwards get on top of ours early and. Win the Ruck... It will make things very difficult for us, particularly if we start getting pinged for offsides and losing six to goes... We. Don't. Need to be giving them extra sets and field position, but it's often just happens and fatigue sets in, sin bis occur etc etc

Some luck, get to our kicks... As. Someone else. Mentioned maintain line speed and.sont be afraid to play footy/throw it around.
A massive ask but play with heart hunger and desire and walk.iff at full time as a team with heads held high. 💪

Olam in for Naden. When you look at that Roosters side 1-17 it's breath taking. Size, speed, strength, skill all over the park. Looks like we may have to wait for another day to get the almighty 3 wins in a row.

Do you mean he has been gifted a start to his career?
For mine, he has been promoted way ahead of time and shown very little since.
Lots to work on.
He doesn’t have much of a running game , and can clock off in defence .
He really needs to work on his dead lifts , and get that arse pumping when he’s into contact .
He doesnt seem to offer much punch with his runs.
But his link play has really opened up the backline , so it’s hard to quantify how much value is in digging right into the line and taking that shot to spin it out the back .
I used to do that back when I played , and it’s not much fun exposing your sternum every single time to make that pass .
You feel it straight away , and it takes a few days to heal .

Justin Matamua is only 21.

Looks like he has started fill out.

Mobile with Good hands,

I like him at 13

As fantastic as the last 2 weeks have been, I think we will get pumped this week. 40-12 or something.

The Roosters team is solid. They will be playing in a prelim final this year for sure.

Our saving grace might be the fatigue from their origin players.

Benji as a player always had a great record against Sharks, Raiders and Cowboys. And a very bad record against Roosters. Would be interesting to see if that carries over into his coaching as well.

It's time to end another poor record for us. We've done it the past 2 weeks.

BENJIS BABES
If they replicate the following
YOUTH
ENTHUSIASM
SPARKLE
Then its YES ! We can do it
Hoping Bula and Douehi and Galvin and Sezer and Korisau can click together and ably supported by Steph and Samuela and Klemm and Pole then the Chooks might just find theve got their hands full
Throw in a dash of Olam and Bateman and weve got a pretty good football team
We need 2 more things Discipline ( take note Seyfarth and Naden ) &
A Fair go from the officials
Watch out Robbo !!!!!

Roosters are almost a rep team. So they don't need to try against the lowly Tigers. They can take it easy and not bother marking up or strategising. Roosters, this is your best chance to relax and not try hard. Don't worry, the Tigers aren't going to ambush you if you are off your game. Naww ...

Very astute and positive synopsis S !

As much as I hope we win this one, there is the very real possibility that we lose the next 3 or so, sink to last again, the media turns on us again, THEN get a few wins in the last part of the season to lift us off the bottom and avoid the spoon.

The NRL ladder predictor is interesting as I've done it a number of times with us losing these current games (including Raiders) and still finishing between 14th-16th with some late wins and the bye in the penultimate round...

Ideally, we'd go unbeaten from here on out but I won't be betting my house on it.
