Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Is also dependant on us playing finals football as well yeah?
Given the extension was signed some time back - my guess is the higher ups assumed (like the rest of us) By signing the likes of Bateman, Klemmer and papalli were a good chance of playing finals before now…
Very true, I'm no fan of these clauses just on the basis of just playing for us because you want to. I feel the same about finals bonuses or executive kpi's.
Why should anyone be paid more for doing what they've been contracted to do. We hire a player to perform the best he can for us we should not need to pay a bonus if he makes the finals. That is what we have contracted him to do in the first place.

Stef has pretty much spelled it out saying he wants a competitive team to play alongside if and if that happens he will stay.
We need to get active in the market and sign a couple of players that will make Stef truly believe will help us become a more competitive team.
We've signed Luai and Turuva, two of the best signings any club could make for next year but this manure about a "winning" team is still being peddled. It is pretty insulting to the other squad members and supporters of the club.

It's his biggest contract in a lifetime. It's going to have to support him for a while, long after he's retired and selling used cars on a lot.

I hate it as much as all of us. But he'd be silly to not look.

He got stitched up this year, he's been enormous for us well deserved to be in the team, no chance of making it now after the win on Wednesday night, I thought Maguire was professional enough to pick the best players based on form but now I think I was wrong. I believe he had an axe to grind with the Tigers and Api suffered as a result. Iv lost a lot of respect I had for Maguire.
Agreed.

Look the team wednesday night worked for NSW. But API would have been the best 9 by far. Off the bench/interchange with Reece Robson or by himself.

its like theatre now. QLD will win game 3.

A lot of unnecessary negativity been directed towards big Step. He has not knocked our offer back, he has gone to the market place to find what his value is. If someone knocks on your door and offers you 3 million for your house your not going to agree if your not confident that it’s over market value.

After fielding any offers out there he may knock us back for any number of reasons, but he is entitled to source the very best deal he can get as his career is a very short one.

Personally I still think we are the front runners but who knows.

Disagree.
Api plays on Wednesday, I doubt NSW are as dominant.
Madge knew he had to win the middle and with Robson there it was rock solid.
He also wanted to give his halves the maximum amount of time to control play. Robson fed them perfectly.
Api would have been a distraction as would have Cook. Robson was an inspired selection.

When blues players ran rampant Robson tried 2 scoots out of dummy half and made bugger all metres. Api would have contributed to more points. He also leads our defensive line for line speed. Api missing tackles is usually him sprinting up trying to put a hit on opposition props. So his miss tackle stats are very deceiving. Robson is good but Api is elite.

He’s pretty much saying he’s better than everyone else .. what a shitty team mate

Punt him already
he doesnt think he's better than everyone else, nor is he a shitty team mate.

he's playing in a team that has been pathetic since he's been here. if someone comes and offers you a significant increase on your salary or better working conditions, you would consider it, especially at 21.

its easy to get emotional about players and loyalty, but it is a 2 way street.

it would be great to keep him and I think he will resign... it's just the process he needs to go through at the moment.

you don’t think 3.2mil over 4 years is a significant increase on his current salary?

Man at 21 I was a 3rd year apprentice earning peanuts..

He is as good as gone imo. Good luck to him, I would like to see him stay as a tiger and I hope I eat my words but I don’t share the same confidence he’ll stay like some on here predict

Api is the more skilful player. At club level and Test level, he is a tremendous talent and would be first picked.
He is not an Origin player. His game is not suited to it.
Harry Grant is the same. He gets in the way a lot and his service to the halves isnt consistent, nor fast enough. Thats why Ben Hunt always starts.

He doesnt need to bag the hell out of the joint whilst doing so.

In fact. He is an Origin player. A different coach would see things differently.
