Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

As a ball playing lock you need to mix up your game.
I have never rated Matamua. Big body player with a pea heart.
His work rate is low and impact even lower sometimes i forget he is playing.

The best lock forward that has ever played our game was Bradley Clyde. That is what every single player in the position should aspire to be.
Clyde had the body of a prop with a huge work rate mixed in with ball skills and speed. He understood when to ball play and when to take a hit up.
Matamua has the body type to play NRL but he is far from that stage.
Sometimes you need to mix it up like Yeo does for the Panthers (who is playing his best football at present).
i know Matamua ain’t running the ball like we need him to yet

But since he has become our lock the attack is looking way more structured then it ever has and that ain’t a coincidence

I agree that no club should ever dare to buy a player that Tom Shines' lord and master has deemed unacceptable.
No club should ever trust their own opinions once his holiness Criag Bellamy has deemed them surplus.
This is the Gospel according to Shines.
So sayeth the shepherd . So sayeth the flock.

Doubt god could get a team into the top four as often as Bellamy does. I realise that’s a roster thing too but someone’s gotta be identifying them.
I think the other factor is cap management. As Penrith has found, if you’re successful, you can’t keep them all.
Perhaps the decision wasn’t necessarily all based on skill and potential etc. Contract upgrades and other club’s offers meant he couldn’t keep them and remain within the cap. E.g. Maybe Dolphins had a war chest to throw at Bromwichs and they wanted to maximise their incomes at the end of their careers.
I think there is more that needs to be considered when analysing talent retention.

His kicking game lets him down. Moses and Luai are at a much higher level imo, Cleary as well.

Moses in career best form of late … he is really playing at the level of one of the best players in the comp…

Luai is playing well… but not as much talent as the likes of Moses and say Hughes … but really glad he is coming next year though …

Bellamy has shown many times over he’s happy for his veterans to leave and secure a big pay day once they’ve earned that right.
