Justin Olam #281

Here is a news story from last month stating that an option to “clean out his knee” ( assuming this is surgery …) would result in a “six to eight week absence “…

If you watched Benji’s press conference he stated Olan’s injury issue last night was nothing to do with his knee, it was calf tightness.
Bellamy is no idiot, he knew Olam was making excuses with injuries when not playing at his best.

well…I’m sure you are aware that he has been struggling with a knee injury all season ..he was clearly struggling with a leg injury yesterday … I would have assumed it’s his knee ..but if Benji says a calf I’ll take that at face value … Unless you are suggesting something otherwise ? Don’t be coy ,,,

I had big concerns about his injury previously ..but the story the club said was that they had him medically vetted before they signed him … I don’t know why they would sign a croc for three years …seems dumb to me… don’t you agree?

Yes I agree.
I could understand taking him for one season with an option in the clubs favour to see he went, but 3 years was ridiculous.

gotta admit .. not exactly sure what you mean with this …. Are you saying Olam is not really injured ?
Olam himself stated Bellamy was trying to force him to play injured.
Do you really think Bellamy would force someone to play injured if he really thought the injury was genuine ?

And if Craig Bellamy thinks a player is being soft, it’s best to believe him.

Not what happened. He was told 2 play injured smh
he needed surgery & went straight back into the team
when he recovered - this is after breaking his arm
earlier too. This has all been well documented bro

That may be the case, but it very much sounds like history repeating when Olam is saying the current injury is his knee and Benji is saying tightness in his calf.

I have no idea about Bellamy … or even if what you are saying actually occurred …

Weren’t you saying yesterday to give Olam a medical discharge ? And now you are saying he is faking his injury?

That’s quite a u-turn

If he doesn’t want to play find a way to get him medically retired,
Last night he didn’t look like he wanted to be there from the kick off, makes me wonder if Benji has instructed him to play based on clearance from our club medical team/physio yet Olam still didn’t believe he was right, same as what happened at Melbourne.
You could tell in his recent BTR podcast that he wasn’t keen to play.

Not sure...I heard calf cramps, that's all. Cramps are
common coming back from unrelated leg injuries

what do you mean he doesn’t want to play…he played!

he was poor at times with his stiff leg … but I wouldn’t exactly say he didn’t want to be there… he was his usual physical self most of the time..

pretty weak evidence ..you are relying on ..one word at a press conference … maybe Benji meant to say knee ..or maybe he has injured his calf trying to favour his knee …

neither of us know the full story..

he was actually one of their best players against the Titans three weeks ago

I agree neither you or I know the full story, but reading between the lines is that Olam won’t be playing very often and it will only get worse the older he gets.

I think we are reading different things “ between the lines “

and I have said repeatedly … surgery is an option …and it’s only a matter of time you would imagine…I don’t know why they haven’t done it already to be honest …maybe the utter lack of a suitable replacement has something to do with it

Olam recently had plasma injections in his knee, plasma is similar to PRP but much more concentrated than PRP.
Plasma injections last for 12 months, I would say this is his last hope if this fails then the club would seriously have to consider medical retirement.
A high profile GWS AFL player recently had plasma injections and the result was outstanding for his busted ankle we can only hope Olam has the same result.

the news article I posted on the previous page said that the injections have not had the desired effect … and “clean out “ surgery is an option …. Would suggest they at least attempt this before retiring him

I remember him saying there is an option to get surgery done on it but he didn’t want to go down that rout

Funnily enough I had 3 of them over a 6 week period in AprilMay instead of going in for a knee reco. My knee hasn’t felt this good for 30 years. I hope they are as successful for him but he wouldn’t have had the 3 as yet ( I imagine) ?
