Again, we go on the average demonstrated speed. Not one off runs. If 95% of their runs are slow , then they're slow. Even nof looked quick in certain moments. Lobb is slow. Douiehi is slow. Bula never sprints. Toa is slow and lazy. Naden and Staines have some pace but have other areas of their hand they struggle with.

It's like people don't realise there's a reason we've come last every season. We are slow. We have no X factor. No backs capable of creating something

You could be right, not arguing that point, however maybe our average running speed is less because we have been a team that creates less opportunities for our outside backs to be in space? I'm not making excuses, just saying that it could be a reasonable excuse. These players have shown they can run fast, we agree on that I think.

The Tigers are a club that for years gambled as a way of making decisions.

Benji as coach with zero experience is the best example. But there are loads of others. They gamble that payers with a crazy amount of injury will have a better run at the Tigers. Reynolds is an obvious example.

You even see it with previous hero’s and juniors versus Faatape. Faatape (apologies spelling) played solid in his early appearances. Instead of letting him stay in role we dropped him and gambled on others.

Second to that we have a history of shafting people. It started with Sheens years ago. Then it was verbal commitments on money not followed through, then it was trying to push people out who were on contact (clashes included).

We then wonder why players shaft us.

I don’t remember players shafting us until we shafted Sheens. At least not like our recent run has been.

Reynolds hurt his shoulder with us pretty sure
Funnily enough I think matulino tried harder than some of the injury free signings

He’s got that “Olam” vibe of being a natural grunt -massive strength and solid attitude. Another Fijian international.

He can run that ball back up relieving pressure on what I think will be younger forwards coming on for us next few years.

I can’t see us producing too much leg speed in years just ahead. I think our footy edge will come from feet, hands, line breaks, intensity and pressure.

Most of all, staying in the game a la Gold Coast.

Drop on focus cruelled the eels last night. It doesn’t take much. A couple of flakey moments and the good sides smash you.

Funny Taane Milne coming back.
I mean the guy has been in decent form. I just could see him cruising here particularly of our history and his.

But why are we slow.

Staines was a speedster at Penrith. Toa can move fast and doesn't.
More then that we are slow with the play the ball and slow to get the ball to the outside backs. But we hsould not be slow.

I think some of it is we aren’t moving onto the ball soon enough. And we don’t have players that are quick off the mark

Not sure, he’s a bit of a beast having a go this year. Something in his mind has snapped. Plus the Benji factor.

Taane Milne just destroys any chance of a last minute draw with a horrendous conversion attempt. Pathetic. Not as bad as dummying to an open Alex Johnson before completing a double movement straight from the textbook.

Since returning about 3 weeks ago Doueihi has looked dangerous every time he’s touched the ball which has certainly surprised me, I didn’t think he would still have it in him after 3 ACL injuries.
I’ve been critical of Bula for not looking to get involved, submit in tackles and not making any tackle breaks or line breaks, but he done all of this last weekend against the Storm, let’s hope it continues each and every week.
Staines has showed a willingness to hit top speed quickly and charge into the defence. I understand his lighter frame doesn’t allow him to make too many post contact metres, but it’s not from lack of effort or intent. He is also just recently starting to show glimpses of using his speed to advantage, I believe it’s more of a team problem than his own problem in this regard.
To’a definitely has tackle busting and natural attacking ability, we need to hopefully start seeing it on a more consistent basis and he needs a big focus on not missing any tackles.
I wouldn’t totally write Lobb off as a NRL player just yet either. His height is obviously something we need, if he can consistently make good metres with his hit ups out of our danger zone and become a winger we can rely on to make up around 150m per game, he could become very valuable.
I’ve mentioned it a few times lately, but I can’t imagine there are many better 19y.o tackle busting, line breaking centres than Josh Feledy. He lacks a bit of height and doesn’t look overly fast over 50-100m, but he is certainly quick off the mark and quick up until 50m which is good enough to make his mark if he can become a reliable defender.
Heath Mason may have got burnt for pace by the flying Faalago, but he’s a very good high energy attacking player in his own right. He’s a genuine tackle buster with his speed off the mark.
Plenty of our fans rate Luke Laulilli very highly and some also rate Solomone Saukuru quite highly also. I am not confident about those two becoming star NRL players, but I could be wrong and I hope I am.

Every player has some bad moments in them.

He’s slightly challenged, but an honest first grader.

I like his power and that he’s got a bit of the feral dog in him.

Plus he’s likely to be unders for what he brings.

Benji can freshen him up.

We’ve all snatched defeat from victory.
