Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Since returning about 3 weeks ago Doueihi has looked dangerous every time he’s touched the ball which has certainly surprised me, I didn’t think he would still have it in him after 3 ACL injuries.
I’ve been critical of Bula for not looking to get involved, submit in tackles and not making any tackle breaks or line breaks, but he done all of this last weekend against the Storm, let’s hope it continues each and every week.
Staines has showed a willingness to hit top speed quickly and charge into the defence. I understand his lighter frame doesn’t allow him to make too many post contact metres, but it’s not from lack of effort or intent. He is also just recently starting to show glimpses of using his speed to advantage, I believe it’s more of a team problem than his own problem in this regard.
To’a definitely has tackle busting and natural attacking ability, we need to hopefully start seeing it on a more consistent basis and he needs a big focus on not missing any tackles.
I wouldn’t totally write Lobb off as a NRL player just yet either. His height is obviously something we need, if he can consistently make good metres with his hit ups out of our danger zone and become a winger we can rely on to make up around 150m per game, he could become very valuable.
I’ve mentioned it a few times lately, but I can’t imagine there are many better 19y.o tackle busting, line breaking centres than Josh Feledy. He lacks a bit of height and doesn’t look overly fast over 50-100m, but he is certainly quick off the mark and quick up until 50m which is good enough to make his mark if he can become a reliable defender.
Heath Mason may have got burnt for pace by the flying Faalago, but he’s a very good high energy attacking player in his own right. He’s a genuine tackle buster with his speed off the mark.
Plenty of our fans rate Luke Laulilli very highly and some also rate Solomone Saukuru quite highly also. I am not confident about those two becoming star NRL players, but I could be wrong and I hope I am.
Hopefully tonight's performance showed you how atrocious and slow we are. In every facet. Mentally stupid players, who move the ball slowly, to slow players.

I don't think there's a single outside back in the club in our current top 30 worth keeping. They're just all too dumb, too slow and utterly useless.

Saukuru to debut next week surely. Heck maybe just throw Ngutlik in too. He can't be worse, at least he's fast and will have a go. If he's fit that is.

Nothing more deflating than an inability to score, in footy and life

Well it showed us that Lobb isn’t capable of helping us anytime soon.
It showed Doueihi needs to somehow stop missing tackles, otherwise he’s too much of a liability despite what he offers in attack.
We definitely need two more good quality backs, where are we getting them from ? The more it appears we have to keep an eye on the Taykan May situation and try and sign him if he’s found not guilty.

Lobb looked to be injured by a leg pull that no doubt would have resulted in a sin bin if we did it.

Oh - but I though you said the players can learn to defend supposedly!!

When they move an 18 year-old half to his non-preferred side to act as a bodyguard in Defence you are beyond redemption!

I doubt Galvin moving to the right was to be Doueihi's bodyguard. Probably more to do with that's where he will play next hear.

On Doueihi, I said it after his comeback game, it was always going to be a big test for him to maintain that effort because that's what he has continually let himself and us down with in the past. He can have 1, 2 maybe 3 good games, but you know a shocker is coming where he simply doesn't try as hard as the other games.

This sums up the problem with the club. We have to many guys who think and claim that they are leaders but they aren't. Leaders set the standards week in week out. Youngsters like Galvin, who has busted his are every game, not once lacked effort, must look at guys like Doueihi, Bateman, Klemmer, Stefano and Sezer and just shake his head. It has to hurt the progress of these kids that the senior guys lack heart and effort half the time they play.

I have said it soooo many times over the years talking about us and other clubs, experienced players in a rebuild are often a detriment to the goal. You have to just throw kids in. They will love it, eat it up and play for each other and themselves. They will have games that they light it up, they will have games where they struggle. But they will come through that.

If I'm Douhi I'm unable to look myself in the mirror this morning, absolutely pathetic that an 18 year old in his first season needs to cover your rear end.

Doueihi needs to apply himself in defence. How can a player of his natural ability be unable to tackle after so many years in the NRL? Questions needs to be asked about what work he does on his game. Does the club have a high-performance coach to identify these issues? Doueihi I say to you that the club and your teammates need you leading from the front in defence. Victories are built on defence.

Douehi is a myth, point blank. Could never defend and is okay against bum opposition, should never have signed him for one more year.
