Luke Brooks #167

Tiger bowl this week.

“The organiser” Hastings v “punt him” Brooks without the origin stars. Brooks named at six after a poor performance at seven v South’s. Both teams need to stay in touch with the eight or their coaches probably come under media pressure.

I think too much was expected of him. Seibold has obviously told him just to play the game, he is a 200 gamer for Gods sake.
Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best , just play what’s in front of you. Is that what all the really good ones do.
Same reason Stef will perform just fine elsewhere.

Whadda 'ya mean, they're running with a shit load of our discards.
The clear difference is DCE, the two Turbos and Olakau'atu.

Even without them during Origin period, it keeps the Manly team at a minimum level and encourages the young blokes to rise to that level. Same way Penrith and Storm are still dangerous during Origin, because there is a minimum expectation / competency / standard of the team when there are 4+ legitimate Origin-level players in the team every week.

Obviously Manly's standard offering is below the level of Penrith or Storm, but higher by far than Tigers.

So it's usual Luke Brooks for me, that I've seen - decent general play, his running game is his best attribute, defends well front-on, but you don't want to rely on him as your main playmaker for long periods.

The last time Manly were without DCE they were beaten 14-0 by Rabbits (away) and the Manly fans were super critical of Brooks' play.

Perfect summation.

Tommy Turbo in particular runs Manly.

To be completely fair to Brooksy, I thought he had a very good game on the weekend compared his previous outings when DCE has not been on the park, even his kicking was okay.

One of the differences apart from Turbo being there was the debut of young Humphries who I though had a great game, probably a surprise to many people, I certainly wasn't expecting him to have such a good game.

Have to laugh at Manly not hanging on to him 🤣, but sad to see that he has signed with Souffs because it looks like they may have landed a good one there. 😡
