I am so sad that when he came back, we won 1 game. While I also find Douehi's comeback commendable given his time off, I agree that his defensive issues are still a major concern.
Teams are intentionally targeting him because his weaknesses are so evident. This not only exposes his flaws but also creates gaps in the defensive line, leading to potential overlaps and holes that opponents exploit.
You almost had me until you mentioned Schuster. Could play him next to Stefano & it would be like mini me effort wise.Find a way to add starch in the middle- Hetherington, Horsburgh & Ofehangue to add to Klemmer, Twal, Sione Fainu & Pole.
Play Seyfarth in the second row with Sam Fainu & begin the transition of Galvin into a second rower.
Play Latu Fainu with Luai.
Get a bulkier winger like Izaac Thompson from the Rabbits to compete with Staines & Lualili'i on the wings. Turuva gets the other wing. Tesi Niu to compete in the centres with Doueihi, Olam, Faataape.
None of these moves involve buckets of cash. If a really good player becomes available- by moving Papali'i, Bateman & Utoikamanu on- we have the cash to add a star player.
Galvin is a busy player but directionless. Latu is less busy but has a clear direction in attack. Far more likely to create opportunity.
More metres from the back. Tougher defenders through the middle.
If the club cannot add a superstar that comes free elsewhere- take a flier on Josh Schuster on a short deal. More creativity around the tryline won't hurt.
He didn’t play rubbish - wasn’t his best game but it’s his first run in an international as a 21 year and after a handful of super rugby games. They wouldn’t debut him if they didn’t see him as a long term prospect. He played rubbish lol, a lot of people are questioning how he even got picked for that wallabies squad
Schuster on a minimum sign on 1st year,2yr club option there after
His technique is the problem. He doesn't have any shoulders, it's got nothing to do with his kneesHe's come back from three knee reconstructions so he is not lacking in courage. Perhaps it is a mix of hesitancy with the knee and lack of application. Either way, he is a leader and our players look up to him so he needs to work hard to improve his defence.
The personal life of a player is his business unless he breaks the law. People admire Api's commitment on the field, let's keep it that way.He didn’t play rubbish - wasn’t his best game but it’s his first run in an international as a 21 year and after a handful of super rugby games. Trust me, I’ve watched a lot of junior rugby and league - league did a great job hyping up Suaalii for a big pay packet. Lancaster is better than him.
You say a lot of people, you mean fans? Most fans haven’t got a clue. We support a club that worships a guy that cheats on his wife! That’s the problem with our club…culture. Going to take some time for richo to clean it out, but we need good people first and foremost. There’s a reason why API left manly and Penrith.

I’d love to view a true statistic correlation between of fidelity and success. I’d suspect that there’s a decent correlation between cheaters and successful men. Anecdotally I see it all around me in local sport and business. You could then argue what defines success but hardly relevant to why we are going for our 3rd spoon. He didn’t play rubbish - wasn’t his best game but it’s his first run in an international as a 21 year and after a handful of super rugby games. I really don’t think this is a bad option, if he was willing to get fit and play lock at a decent price , he’s a big body which we need . Under no circumstances would I pay overs for him .Schuster on a minimum sign on 1st year,2yr club option there after
He is dogshit, hates tackling ship him to Super League. His issues in defence have always been there … I also see him having a crack at young players on the field after an error…. I don’t equate that with being a leader
Benji is green as they get but I think the comment is largely unfair.Im sure once Luai gets here and realises Benji has no idea what he’s doing, he’ll probably be happy for the club to bring in an actual coach.
“The true rebuild“Benji is green as they get but I think the comment is largely unfair.
This is the very first year of the true rebuild.
too logical for the WT....What many don’t seem to want to understand is we don’t have enough players who can make good hard yardage out of our own danger zone and we don’t have enough players who regularly make tackle breaks and genuinely worry the opposition when we have the ball.
Our defence will never be any good until we get this right and have the right balance of players who can get the job done on a regular basis.
Defence is a mindset and is much easier when the players are confident good defending will be rewarded with good field position and good attacking play that leads to points scored.
Our general attacking play has got better throughout the season, but winning the yardage battle particularly in the first half has been very rare and we have got worse at making the hard yards out of our danger zone.
Not enough players with the required size & aggression or explosive speed to make the hard yards out of our danger zone.
Not enough hard running and tackle busting ability on our edges, namely edge back row and centres.
Not enough hard ball running, physical dominance or offloads from our middles.
Not near enough line speed or hard hitting defence from our players 1-17.
Not enough attacking involvement or x factor from our fullback.
Poor kicking game and poor kick chase, in particular far too many uncontested high balls.
Lack of overall X factor and running threat from our halves, although Galvin has asked our opponents plenty of questions and definitely gets a pass mark for one so young, he needs assistance from his halves partner. Latu started to show signs of his confident self last night which was great to see.
Maybe so, but honestly it can be fixed much quicker than many think by recruiting 4-5 players with the right body shapes and characteristics that we are lacking and I understand it’s easier said than done while needing to offload some players to make room for potential new recruits, but the Bulldogs have not had an issue moving on contracted players over the past couple of years, so why can’t we find a way like they can.too logical for the WT....
