Yes...consistency is number one. We can't buy players that are playing crap now and hope they change at our club.

Mate it wasn't that quick. The dogs had been struggling for quite some time. It took them a while to clean out the roster and pick up quality players. They had been struggling since before Dean Pay.

Burton, Mahoney, Kikau, Crichton, JAC....now add guys like Curran, Xerri, Kiraz, Treacy.

This didn't happen overnight.

Our team reminds me of where the Dogs were under Pay. We have some recruitment to do for sure, but we are not going to get there in one season.

The Bulldogs defence was worse than us last season, so the new recruits along with a better attitude has seen them go from the bottom of the table to the top 6 in one season.

Have mentioned him a few times but I would go get Tom Eisenhuth. Put him at lock for next year. He won’t break the bank, has a decent passing game, can offload and is solid defensively. Would solve 1 of our forward spots and allow us to give Pole a full preseason training at Prop.

I know we need more but he is the perfect squad player we should have, comes from Storm system and been a key cog in the forward change at the Dragons as well.

I thought I heard he re-signed with the Dragons for 2025 ?
If not he should definitely be one we are looking at signing. Even though he’s now in his 30’s he keeps very fit, plays the link man 13 role well, has a good offload in his game and generally defends well in the middle.
Having him play 13 in tandem with Seyfarth would work well.

Is Hopgood off contract? I know we had a crack at him before he signed with Parra, id love us to try for Skelton too.

Toby Sexton was another young star at the Titans who also starred as a schoolboy alongside Tom Dearden. Even while in and out of the Titans NRL team he always showed glimpses of his talent with a very good kicking game and game management skills. Another who quite a few posters on here called for the Wests Tigers to sign when we were in desperate need of a controlling halfback.
Kurt Mann was mainly playing off the bench at the Knights, but was showing he was one of the rare players who could play 13 as a genuine link man, but also big enoug, fast enough and tough enough to run the ball well when required and also tackle with venom,
Connor Tracey could not get a regular NRL spot with the Sharks, but was regularly starring at NSW Cup level and whenever he got a rare NRL start. He’s another that many posters on her were wanting Wests Tigers to sign.
To think all of these players who are proving to be high quality NRL players and an integral part of the Bulldogs success are all unlikely to be contracted to any more than a maximum of 250k per season.
However with the Bulldogs talking up their chances of signing Stefano, you would hope Richo is the phone to all the managers of the players listed above making them well aware their contract values are way below their true value and a club like Wests Tigers could happily pay them a lot more.

Nice write up of all the Bulldogs signings and all true.

They've also signed a lot of duds that haven't worked out.

The key to it is they had a clear criteria for the sort of player that would improve them and they've also managed to turn over most of their squad to get rid of the toxic apathy and losing.

We really need to turn over as many players as we can and, as you say, target the hard working players who want opportunity and get them competing for spots.

Some good additions, but Hopgood is a very good 13, doesn’t look like he has the speed required to excel on an edge and he’s not off contract anyway.
Turuva’s defence definitely not good enough for the centres, if we think Doueihi’s defence is suspect, it’s rock solid compared with Turuva.

Hopgood, off contract end of 2025
 
On the positive Luai just continues to look more confident and better than ever.
I’ll put my hand up as not thinking he was anywhere near a 1.2 million dollar player when we signed him, but if his confidence doesn’t get shattered too soon after joining us, he’s every bit a 1.2 million dollar player at the moment.
