Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I thought I heard he re-signed with the Dragons for 2025 ?
If not he should definitely be one we are looking at signing. Even though he’s now in his 30’s he keeps very fit, plays the link man 13 role well, has a good offload in his game and generally defends well in the middle.
Having him play 13 in tandem with Seyfarth would work well.
Played in the same junior side as my son. Solid player. 33 next year

It was more apt to compare us to the Bulldogs two years ago; presently, we're probably more comparable to the Eels. The Bulldogs have released nearly their entire team and have had a full salary cap to utilise, unlike us.

They’ve strategically hired a former Penrith assistant coach and several premiership-winning players who have served under him to create a solid foundation. These investments took most of their cap space and as a result, they’ve been forced to recruit other players to fill out their roster. However, the crux of their successful rebuild isn’t just replicating the Panthers blueprint but also benefiting from significant financial backing from Arthur Laundy IMO.

One size doesn’t fit all.
Benji has his own vision and different limitations. Until we can land one or two more high calibre players (or until our juniors mature), we should focus on acquiring players who are relentless and drive standards and team morale - akin to how Corey Thompson was for us. I l don’t mind some of the suggestions being thrown around, such as Hopgood or Horsburgh as while they’re not superstars they seem to fit this mould.

Benji will only get vision when he visits OPSM.

Some good additions, but Hopgood is a very good 13, doesn’t look like he has the speed required to excel on an edge and he’s not off contract anyway.
Turuva’s defence definitely not good enough for the centres, if we think Doueihi’s defence is suspect, it’s rock solid compared with Turuva.
Swap 3 and 5 around

Contracts mean nothing. Hopgood was a BA fan and he got the sack, he can talk from Nov. I would make sure asap that he knows we’re keen to have him here with his former teammates.

Yes to Val Holmes. Centre or wing- he's an outstanding player & makes the side better.

Still in on Horsburgh & Hetherington for mine.

And then get Joffa back.

Navren Willet is another who will probably see a debut sometime this year or next. When he played in the trials this year he handled the physicality pretty well, I’d say probably still a bit away but watching the NSW cup he used his height (6”7) greatly to his advantage. Again defensively seems to be a bit of a struggle so I’d say until he can be more consistent I doubt Benji will chuck him in.

Onto someone who deserves a debut now Tim Johanssenn. This bloke has been great in NSW cup the whole year and in the game against the warriors scored the game winning try. I’d like to repeat that he’s been doing it this whole year so it’s not just a one off. Drop Stef for this week to focus on contract talks etc and chuck this bloke in. I hope we can sign him cause it’d be a major oversight to let him go. He is fit, fast and strong something we lack aside from Pole.

These are his stats from this year:
12 Appearances
2 Tries
38 Tackle Breaks
10 Offloads
133 Average RM
90% Tackle Efficiency

That’s a d$@@head statement if I ever read one. Did you even play league or did you play dolls with your sister and your angry now upon reflection?

How many training sessions you had ?

He has nothing to work with ! Overrated - I bet alot of touch players wish they won an nrl comp, played and captained their country won a golden boot, played over 300 games.

When he has the team he wants and deserves, judge then. Bateman was a dud before he came here, stef is kickin stones because he’s a sad poly and that spreads like cancer, Bula needs to grow a pair, and we haven’t had a decent back 5 in ten years.

I could go on for pages, we knew 2 years ago , 3 years ago we were rebuilding, trying to focus on juniors, and had poor leadership off the field for what 9 - 10 years ?
What do you mean sad poly? I get TPJ vibes from Stef big body but heart isn't in it.
