Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I just can't imagine them letting to,o go you'd punt someone like Garner or Eisenhuth moving on one of your best, is the sort of braindead things we do
Once again the idea that players are all on the same contract and all have equal value to other clubs. Garner and Eisenhuth will be on minimum salary or close to it, so there is literally zero value in releasing them unless they need the roster spot: they don't free up any cap room at all, as they have to be replaced by someone else on at least first grade minimum. If Penrith need to free up cap space they have to release someone who is making some actual money, not just a warm body. Personally I'd be surprised if they decided To'o was the most expendable but who else is on that roster, making decent coin and not vital to them? Yeo? Edwards? Cleary?

This is the same argument as "why did we let Papali'i go and not Bateman?" It's because another club is willing to pay Papali'i's contract as he is still perceived to have some value, whereas barring a miracle the only way anyone is even going to consider taking Bateman off our hands is if the Tigers pay almost all the money owing to him.

EDIT: besides, what Penrith have shown they do really, really well is working out which of their players they absolutely have to keep even on big contracts and which they can live without, replace with kids etc. They've let the likes of Kikau, Koroisau and Burton go without dropping a beat, and there's every chance losing Crichton and Leniu go isn't going to stop them, either. Eventually their run has to end and one would have to think Luai and Fisher-Harris leaving would be as big a challenge as they've faced, but still: sensible roster management doesn't mean never letting a good player walk. In fact, in some cases it means the opposite: not being emotionally attached to players to the extent that you prioritise keeping them over what they cost you.

You make a good point, I just don't get their salary cap situation look at the players that have moved on over the last couple of years this year they are losing taylan may, fisher Harris, Turuva and luai, all would be on decent coin, funny how we never seem to see these cap issues at Bondi Junction

Yea I agree, win for both sides really. Would just need Fainu to get his hamstring issues right + a good centre & it would be one of the best back lines in the comp IMO
That's a huge "just". What if Fainu doesn't get his hammy right? Absolutely no way I'd be giving up Galvin to get To'o because of Fainu. That's like giving up Moses to get Daniel Tupou because you've got a half busted Luke Brooks in your squad.

Being toxic, negative morons is like oxygen for these guys. They have no intention on being even semi accurate. They must be dumb as shit to not even be able to come up with a single interesting thought or analysis about the game. They just go straight for the ol’ kick the foot in and stir the pot.
It's all from the Murdoch media playbook. Create division and you're on your way.

Sorry but JFH was on $950k a season… you think they spent anything close to that on Papa??? He has played sh*t here for 2 years & will be on a bargain contract
People seem to forget they lost Kikau and Leniu as well - that’s what bought Paps… they might not have all of the JFH cash, but my guess is they’d have a large deal of it - and would be looking for a prop to spend it on.

There was talk Penrith viewed Galvin as a replacement for Luai before Galvin had even laced a boot in first grade. A Galvin and To'o swap I'd be all for!

That would be just dumb.
You don’t weaken a spot to strengthen another if we want to move up the ladder.
If Galvin and our strategy is youth we must keep him, anyone can see the kid is a NRL footy player.

Wouldn't send a good message that we kick up a stink to keep him to suit us than happy to offload to suit us. The club wants to convey the message to pathways talents that we're in for the 'crocodile roll' lol

TIGERS ROOKIE'S METEORIC RISE

The Tigers keep losing quality players but one that looks set to stay right where he is, is promising utility Heath Mason.

A Tigers junior and 2023 Australian Schoolboy from Thirlmere, Mason has played four games in a meteoric rise to the top grade and looks the goods.

He moves onto a development contract in 2025 after starting this season in SG Ball and his manager is looking to upgrade and extend him with the club on a lengthy deal.

Panthers are 1 of the smartest clubs in the comp & certainly wouldn’t be trading To’o the best winger in the comp for Stef… more realistically I think they would be wanting a half in return. Hypothetically, if Galvin behind the scenes is still saying he doesn’t want to sign an extension would anyone really be opposed to that trade? Would be a smart piece of business IMO & better then letting him leave for nothing in return. Would still be able to run Latu & Luai out for the future 🤷‍♂️
This isn’t any inside info just putting some pieces together that I think could be happening behind the scenes
Why the F are people talking this trash?
He was never talking about not wanting to sign here.
