The interview with Richo was a breath of fresh air after years of "we're doing great".
It actually prompted me to call a mate who was a not so amazing player when Richo was CEO at Penrith 20 or so years ago where they went from wooden spooners to premiership in two years. He told me:
- Richo was very quick to get rid of players he thought either had no skill or a bad attitude (some were guys that the previous coach really rated)
- At the same time, he worked hard to keep players he knew he wanted to keep
- He brought in a few trustworthy journeymen with good attitudes
- He completely cleaned out the wooden spoon coaching staff
Although we're having a shocker of a season, it sounds like Richo is doing a lot of the same things that have worked for him before.
